Im still in shock that Riot Games allowed a players union to form. In response to the walkout Riot Games loosened NA LCS player eligibility rules allowing franchised teams to field scabs.
What kicked all this off was NA LCS franchised team owners asking Riot Games to remove the requirement forcing them to also field a tier 2 team. Provision passed recently with all but two NA LCS franchised teams immediately dropping their tier 2 teams.
Overall this is a culmination of small things over the past decade;

Overall this is a culmination of small things over the past decade;
- League of Legends no longer being a popular game in North America
- NA LCS franchised teams primarily importing players
- Riot Games forcing franchised teams to operate in Los Angeles
- Year on year decline of NA LCS viewership
- CLG going bankrupt selling to NRG
- TSM publicly looking to sell their NA LCS franchised spot for a move to Europe
- Riot Games favoring Valorant in North America over League of Legends
