My Work Hates Beards

So we actually can't have beards at our work because most positions require you to be able to use a respiratory system that doesn't accept beards.

Unfortunately somebody is joining soon (a muslim man) who is required to have a beard due to his religion. This means he will only get posts where he does not need to use a respirator.
So everyone in the work place (not me and other new people but the old people who will be training) plans to be dicks to him so he quits.

Apparently the last bearded guy who joined quit within 2 weeks.

What are your thoughts on this?
I can't do anything for this guy as I don't even know what I am doing at work yet.

There are several work locations, especially here in Houston, that required you to be shaved so you can wear a respirator in case of a chemical gas leak. Mustaches are ok though.

It's good for weeding out the loser hipsters....

Basically I agree with this.

And as for hiring a muslim person who needs a beard, I'd just tell them " I don't care what religion you are, you cannot have a beard for this job, I am sorry. If you decide to shave your beard, then you will be more than welcome to apply again. "

This is the answer. Why isn't being beard beardless a job qualification? This problem didn't need to happen, and management should fix it.
 
I worked in a place that had frequent precautions requiring a respirator, if you had a beard, we had this big over the head hazmat helmet thing you could wear, most guys shaved.
 
Lol I worked at a cafeteria and they made me wear a hair and beard net. Lasted about as long as a virgin on prom night. Also, you guys are dicks. I'd come in all black really acting strange to get my last check to make you guys shit a little if I were him.
