A bit of a combination of what i think are the scariest as well as the most technically well done.
What are your top 5 or 10?

I enjoy all of those, but I don't really consider Funny Games to be a horror. More of a thriller/ suspense/ mystery

ik its rarely classified as a horror movie, but this Austrian home invasion flick remains one of the most terrifying, if not traumatizing, films ever made.

I would say it independently meets the criteria for each of horror, action, sci fi and romance.

That's a pretty damn good list

I'd replace The Witch with A Nightmare on Elm Street but still pretty solid

Just watched event horizon for the first time a few weeks ago. Definitely lived up to all the hype I'd been hearing about it on here.

The original of course, however I did like the remake for different reasons.
Ash vs Evil Dead is also awesome

    2. Alien (1979)
    3. The Shining (1980)
    4. Event Horizon (1997)
    5. Hellraiser (1987)

I'm probably missing a lot, but these are probably my favorites that I can remember, hard to rank them really though, especially newer movies, a whole lot of options for that 10th place spot

The remake was good. Being a huge Evil Dead fan I think they were smart to not try and replace Bruce as Ash and going strictly horror. I dug it.

Evil Dead 2 is the greatest movie ever made.
