My father in law passed this morning

That sucks man. Condolences...

He got you that house, right?

Just a quick update to those who were aware that my father in law was ill. He passed at 7:25 this morning. It was very much expected though as we'd been aware of his imminent death for a few days now. So it wasn't a shock & my wife & I are doing as well as can be expected under the circumstances.

We still don't know exactly what led to the sudden dramatic downturn in his health other than that he became very tired after he turned 75 in March & that he & his body must have just decided that it was time to go. He went quietly & peacefully in a state of comfort. So, it was about the best circumstances that one could hope for.

Dennis was a US veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean War. A highly intelligent man he graduated from Cal State Fullerton with honors. After which he enjoyed a long career as a Party Chief at his land surveying company until his retirement in 2015. Among the projects that he worked on the development of were the Honda Center in Anaheim as well as the Disneyland California Adventure Park.

Thanks to all those who had expressed concern during his illness. It was very much appreciated.
RIP to him but he would have to be much older than 75 to have served during the Korean War

A Great American. RIP.

RIP .

Our condolences to you and your family x

Sorry for your loss Sherbro. May he RIP.

RIP and condolences, you are as far as I can tell the most genuine person on here, wishing the best for you and your family.

Also, is there a typo in the OP regarding his age? My grandfather was Korean and served in the Korean war, he passed a few years back and was in his 90's.

Thank you so much for pointing that out, bro. My father in law was actually in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. It was my dad who was in during the Korean War.

Peace.

a life well lived
RIP
I hope your wife and yourself are doing ok. I can tell you're the type of guy that will look after her well.
Peace, brother

This is the guy who made you take up shooting ?

Seems like he was a mans man and im sorry for your families loss. A full life lived is a life worth celebrating.

Yes, sir, he was. And it gave him great joy to turn a New York liberal like me into a handgun owner. He loved it in a good-spirited way & I'll always have the memories of him teaching me gun safety & taking me to the range.

I'm sorry to hear that. I thank him for his service as a fellow veteran myself. I hope they got him a U.S. flag. I'm sure he would have appreciated it. What a 'shitty' war and terrible homecoming for those guys. You can contact any veterans organization to get information on a free flag.

Sounds like a good man, if a son-in-law loves him then he couldn't have been anything but. Sorry for your loss and Godspeed to your father-in-law.

Yes, sir. He sure did & now we have two more that he left to us. His place across the street from us here in Sedona & another one in Bullhead City that he owned. It's all a bit overwhelming to think about right now actually.

But, yeah, he bought us our place as our wedding gift. He was a very generous man who doted on his daughter.

Hey, Sherbros, thanks so much for all the kind messages of support for Jana & I & all the respect shown to my father in law, Dennis. It really means the world to us. I owe everyone here a "like" but I've run out of them for the day. But just know that each of you is much appreciated.

Peace.
