1. UFC is dieded, bro.

2. While that headbutt might have played a factor in the KO, with Figuieredo's stoppage I've come to a realization that even though Joe B is a fantastic MMArtist, he is the epitome of "Jack of all trades, master of none". His BJJ is great but he doesn't dominate and sub guys left and right like a Maia, he's technical on the feet but doesn't overwhelm opponents with angles and footwork to put on masterclass performances. He has some pop because of his speed but isn't a KO artist. Basically my point is, Joe B just doesn't have an IT Factor to his game.

3.This outcome from the Main Event makes me feel its a sign from God that this damn division needs to vanish already (sorry manlets), we just don't give many fucks! ...
Let Deivison, Joe B, Formiga and Moreno (and potentially Pantoja) move up to BW and we're in business with more bangers and fun ass fights!
The likes of Tim Elliott and Co. can go to Bellator and ONE, they'll be aight , fuck it.

Bonus - UFC dieded for real, dawg.

Main event kinda sucked. Low level fight, not championship

Wrong.
Benavidez had it all.
He subbed elite level BJJ guys, knocked out fools left and right, and was impossible to catch on the ground.
He just absorbed too much damage, he cannot take a hard punch

Agreed on all points. God hisself doesn't want 25ers in the UFC, and Joe is getting long in the tooth for the weight class he's in, every alpha male standout has aged nearly a decade from their first run at a title. But Faber, Cody and TJ won belts (WEC for Faber)

Joe has Megan, but never gold.

He's 47 in Manlet years, let's give the little guy a break

Yes he was good at everything.
But never a specialist. There's was never a point in his career where he had one skill/strength up his sleeve that he could use against anybody.
Hence "jack of all trades, master of none".

? The main reason "joe b" struggled was the height/reach difference.

Master of all trades.
When you submit Rani Yahyas, crack jaws of previously unstoppable fighters and outwrestle people 2x bigger than you, that's mastery.

Joe should have spent some years in some traditional martial arts that were totally Americanized where belts go out like hot cakes. He could be a master at like 17 of them by now and your thread would be worthless...Seriously though, why bring up he's no Damian Maia bjj level etc. ? Yeah no f'ing shit, very very few are, but he's got better wrestling, striking, power p4p, cardio, ability to mix his game up etc. than Maia so it's pretty stupid to even bring that up imo. Guys been what? Top 3 since the division started? That's crazy stuff.

You can't really be a super specialist and be super well rounded, so saying that's some sort of negative is just wacky. He is a master mma grappler, master cardio etc. Guys been one of the best in the world for a long long time and was winning that fight, but he doesn't have "That IT factor" ...the fuck are you talking about lol. Mma is about being well rounded yet you're trying to make it sound like he's just mediocre at everything when he's great at everything.

You didn't make a single good point in this thread no offense, but of course, that's just my opinion.

My biggest take away is he is banging Meg O on the daily. Even if he lost, he still wins.

I disagree. Benavidez has/had elite wrestling for MMA and elite MMA grappling, along with being one of the most effective strikers in the division. He also possesses great cardio and a strong will. He’s 35 years of age and fought for a title 10 years ago. He’s ancient for this weight class and there’s no way he is going to be in his prime at this point, but he’s still an excellent fighter.

Subbing Only Rani Yahyas is not mastery.
Cracking jaws of "previously unstoppable fighters" is an incredibly vague and subjective statement. Why don't you specify which fighters he KOd that were UNSTOPPABLE?
And who exactly was 2X his size ??? Sounds like you're reaching, no offense.

Bottom line is this, he just lost his 4th consecutive title shot, and got knocked the fucked out doing it, badly. I'll attribute the term "mastery" to someone else for now, thank you.

So, what is he a master of now?

My takeaway from the night is that Norma Dumont is one THIIIICCC beautiful Brazilian with a great ass.

Thanks for your explanation. I get your point.

My point was simply that while he's s phenomenal mmartist, he does not have one sole skill or strength that he can rely on to dominate fighters across the board. That is the other side of the coin to being EXTREMELY well rounded like he is.

In a lot of ways, Izzy, Romero and Yan are also well rounded. But Izzy has angles and timing, Romero has explosive power, and Yan has inside boxing. ....

Get my point?
