i tryed running a search on this...but i couldnt find much related to help on this soo....

heres my question bout a week ago while i was sparring (kickboxing) i seemed to have stressed my right pectoral....anyways ...i was wondering how long do muscle strains usually last....i've been resting it and applyin ice whenever i can....i tryed to go back wednesday to try and get some trainin for the NAGA that was down here in south florida but when i woke up i decided not to go cuz it was still botherin a lot and was scared that i might damage it some more... upset bout that but ohwells i'll just figure i could get better for the next one...

anyways i'd appreciate it if anybody had some advice or some ideas of how long it usually takes....it feels like it's been gettin better through time..but still hurts like a bitch when i do certain things...

thanks

Well that depends. I've had some that have lasted many months....really. But...that's cause I didn't want to take time off from training. Are there light stretches you can do for the area? Surrounding areas? Are you taking anything...ibuprophen, motrin? Keeping heat on it ( I would think you are pasted the time for ice...unless you really strain it again) ? It might be worth a trip to a physical therapist just to get an idea about what you can and can't do to help speed recovery.

sorry I don't have too much experience with hurt pecs :)

I strained a pec, and it lasted for about two months and kept me from doing anything, even running. Pecs are a bad place to hurt because they're big, comparatively weak and get used for pretty much everything, so I'd say you've got no choice but to sufffer for a few weeks and stay totally inactive. Taping the area up tight might reduce the pain during running.

hmm...yea i 'll keep to try those things....wasnt sure bout heatin it yet...but ok...i have been workin on stretching it..and i'm pretty much taking the rest of my time off from trainin....i'll jsut go once a week and work on stand up techniques...but nothin else...and i think i can still run doesnt bother me too much anymore in that part...but it's still bothering

stretch, massage, heat, strengthen-bench press- start off with light weights and keep it within pain free range. Slowly progress to heavier weights and increase the speed at which you are benching.

go back to kickboxing when you can punch a bag with no pain associated.

hmmm...yea thanks man i'll be keepin that in mind and giving them a try...thanks again
