Media Muhammad Mokaev Responds Post-UFC Release: "Dream Is To BECOME UFC Champ" - "PFL Has No FLW Division"

Honestly, the best course of action for Mokaev right now is to sign with another promotion.

Go out and get more experience, both in the cage and in life. Demonstrate he can put on good fights and also not cause issues behind the scenes.

Maybe win a belt or two, fight out his contract. Re-sign with the UFC when he's 26 or 27 and he's made a bigger name for himself, and he can still get there.

Moping and refusing other offers isn't going to get him anywhere because the UFC aren't going to reverse their decision and open their arms for him to come back.

Oh boy, I didn't expect this backtracking after all the bravado. He quickly found out nobody wanted him or at least to pay him anything close to what he wanted.

This reads like a young kid who had a good job but took it for granted, and now is begging for it back.

Yeah, dude needs to go and sign with one, win a belt then maybe come back in a few years.

Reality can be sobering. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Whether it be all the issues pre-fight with Kape, being a problem behind the scenes (allegedly), negotiating with the PFL while under contract, or all of the above, the guy is running a masterclass on how to fuck yourself over. The UFC basically told him if he was more exciting they'd be inclined to keep him despite everything, but he isn't.

While I would prefer the UFC keep him, sign top prospects for Flyweight and build up the division properly, I can see why they want to wash their hands of him. He's young. Hopefully he learns from his mistakes.

At the end of the day, he fought out his contract and the UFC decided not to renew. It is what it is.

Mokaev shouldn't have been released. I'll die on the hill of saying this is a terrible precedent for the UFC.

BUT he and his managers are also to blame. Mokaev certainly understood matchmakers thought he was boring, and that not many fans have eyes on him or his division. He likely saw how much media attention Kape got with creating drama with Izzy's team and calling Kai Kara France a ":eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:" , so he and Kape both knowing Ali Abdu Aziz decided to beef and sell some wolf tickets, then they went out there and fought like teammates and Mokaev fought very uncharacteristically to say the least, mostly keeping things on the feet. He's also naturally just a hot head.

So basically he's an idiot, the beef was fake, and the UFC also shafted him and Dana White tacitly admitted they wanted him to fight differently.

If they don't re-sign a kid who's ranked top 10 in the world at 23 years of age, is 7-0 in the promotion and is in line for a title shot then that's fucking retarded.

If he's a problem at the PI just ban him from using the PI.

Also its strange when there's plenty of fighters that are headaches and plenty of stars that get into all kinds of trouble.
Of course from a profit and business perspective it's different when the dude getting into trouble is a PPV star, but from a meritocratic sports perspective it shouldn't matter.

Masvidal basically assaulted both Leon and Colby and the UFC shared the Leon clip to get clicks.

Would bet anything that if Kape and Mokaev fought like they had real beef, the UFC would be resigning him.

The baldfather really has these fighters by the nuts. He's pleading to get back on 10k/10k.

Some of the fighters with strong "ethnic/cultural" fan followings tend to view the UFC more as a brand platform than caring about the actual UFC pay.

Khabib likely made exponentially more outside the UFC cage than inside it. Khamzat is another example.

Did you see the above where *allegedly* his team reached out to PFL to see what they would offer him while he was still signed with the UFC?

I can't stand him and think he is an insufferable brat but Mokaev has mad skills. His best course of action is to fight in another promotion and resign with the UFC when the wind blows over.

Definitely. Words aren't going to help him by this juncture, he needs to show in his actions he's worthy of being resigned. Go to a new promotion, don't start shit, and win fights.

I have a hard time believing that with them not having a FLW division, but at the same time FLW's often move to BW so it's definitely possible.

If it did happen that would make sense though. If it was clear to him that the matchmakers didn't like him, and that his contract was coming to an end and he was getting moved to the prelims, it would make total sense for him and his team to reach out to other orgs. In my view that doesn't change the main crux of the issue at hand here (was he mostly cut for not being a draw and having a boring style).

He's gonna have to sign with ONE. Let's see if he can handle an aging Mighty Mouse. That's the biggest fight available for him.

I don't think he'll sign for ONE. They're benching most of their expensive fighters. They're running low on funding it seems.

Plus they treat their fighters like shit anyway

I'm not even sure if that is legal or ethical, but even if it was, if he intended to use PFL's number against the UFC as leverage in contract negotiations that idea busted and fell on it's face.

I should be Mokaev’s PR manager:

“I want to extend my deepest apologies for my behavior both inside and outside the octagon. Fighting outside the cage and committing fouls inside it are completely unacceptable actions. I apologize to my opponent, Manuel Kape, the UFC, and the fans. I am ready to face the consequences of my actions and have decided to donate [X amount] to [Y charity], an organization dedicated to combating bullying.

The UFC is the premier organization in MMA, and it is my ambition to continue fighting for this company. As a 23-year-old undefeated fighter ranked No. 6 in the flyweight division, I strive to compete against the best in the world. My team and I have reached out to the UFC, and we are committed to working towards a positive resolution. Thank you for your support.”
