In terms of pure self defense, which is better of the two.

Since Muay Thai has an extensive and aggressive clinch, while BJJ guys just tries to hang on and weigh down the opponent, I would say Muay Thai is better for the street if you have to pick one.

The achilles heal for the striker is double or single legs takedowns but to try that on concrete, no holds barred, is very risky, and BJJ guys aren't nearly as versed in leg takedowns as wrestlers.

Neither one. They each have their pluses and minuses and it's up to the individual to win or lose a fight, not the fighting art. MT is a stand up striking art while BJJ is more concerned with grappling on the ground. So in terms of pure self defense you would want to train yourself to be versed and competent in both areas (stand up/striking and grappling/ground work).

MMA + common sense / situational awareness

Tai Chi + Yellow bamboo / being drunk............ = win

I also advocate aggressive face biting but only if the other person deserves it

Clinch knees to the balls, elbow to the face and a couple of stomps should work.

Bath salts + cocaine. Thats the GOAT stack. Fend of multiple attackers 3 weight classes above you

For self-defense?
Running away.
Fast.

In a pure self-defense situation, you want to do a little bit of both, plus common sense. Assuming it's one on one, and your not being jumped by a group or attacked with a gun or large knife.

Try to end the fight standing up if you can, either hurt him bad then run away or just run away. Go for the take down when a spot opens up where you can get him to the ground.
