Hi guys,

I'm new here, and this is my first post on Sherdog. Basically, I have been a kickboxing instructor in Canada for a number of years, and I am considering designing my own set of Muay Thai pads, since I have not been satisfied with any of the brands that I have tried. I am looking for some input on Muay Thai pad design and would like to hear about any experiences that you guys have had with MT pads, whether good or bad.

One problem I have found with many brands (e.g. Everlast, any UFC brand pads, etc.) is that the stitching is too large, which results in the stuffing coming out between the threads as the pads wear. (I am looking into creating stitch-free pads, where the inside is removable and slides in and out of an outer sleeve or shell.)

Also I have found that many pads have shitty velcro straps that don't work well, and I am considering various options for elastic straps.

Input on traits such as size/shape, colour, wear and tear, functionality, comfort, weight, etc. would be great!!!

Thanks for your time, all comments are appreciated!!!

It may serve you to try out some of the better brands (Fairtex, Twins, etc.) and find features that you like and find worth emulating, rather than basing your design entirely on negating flaws in lesser products. Just my two cents.
