I saw how cheap some of camps are and I am thinking about trying one out for a couple of mounths. Any reveiws, advice or thoughts?

take me with you? :icon_conf

imo visit a proper thai camp, not a commercial one that is well known because westerners train there, but one that will kick your ass and make you train hard :D

I was just in Lumpini this past Saturday. It was lots of fun and I got really drunk. Got to see 1 KO and 1 TKO, the rest went to decision. Thailand was fucking badass though, I recommend anyone if they ever get the chance to go there. And everything is dirt cheap.....including some great massages. Damn I didn't want to leave.

I went to one of the Muay Thai camps in Pattaya (Sidyongtong I think is how its spelled) which was pretty cool. I am a grappler primarily with a decent boxing background. I have only trained a little Muay Thai so I was reluctant to train since my kicks are quite pitiful. They were cool about it though, I trained briefly for about an hour, mainly boxing. I was there for vacation and not to train really.

The camp seemed pretty good though, apparently they have a few champions there and it seemed pretty hardcore. Lots of Europeans were there as well. I am not terribly familiar with the finer details of Muay Thai as I just box usually, so I couldn't tell how it compares to other places.

I would recommend going though dude. It is awesome there. Overall the trip was fucking fantastic, hopefully I can go back some time. And if you are American, every girl in Thailand will want your nuts. It was unbelievable.

Be careful in thailand they have one of the worst AIDS populations in the world!!!!!!!! LOL

I asked my dad if he would allow me to go to thailand this summer for MT camp and he laughed in my face. He's like "I'm not gonna send you to a 3rd world country your gonna get kidnapped or something" lol

Its really safe if you are with a group and be smart about things. Don't go to the south, that is where the Muslim population is causing problems.

I was there for about 5 months years ago...are Doi and Nui still there?

Great atmosphere at Lanna, gets to be a bit of a frat house feel depending on the crew, would recomend it to anybody...

yes money making Doi is still around Nui i dont know, i know an old fellow called Nuk, really cool guy hes like in his mid 40s and went with us to bubbles at Loi krathong...aha I miss lanna...

Wow, Bubbles...that takes me back...

the site shows Solom is still fighting out of kiat busaba...we dragged him to bubbles one night...he woulda been 18 tops...dragged his sorry ass back to camp about 6:30 a.m.

just in time for Taywin to make the poor bastard go for the morning run...the falangs all went to bed to sleep it off...only time I ever saw Andy upset

Went to fairtex-bkk for 2 weeks last year and it was fun, highly recommended.

There is little/no muslim population in Phuket. Most of the muslims live right close to the border with Malaysia. The "type" of problems are regular old jihad style: bombings, kidnappings, etc.
