Moving up two weight classes for a fight was insanely reckless

But like Conor said, "There are alot pussies in this game." He brings that old school spirit to MMA. Fight anyone at any weight. Its refreshing to see a fighter in the modern game willing to take risks realizing that it will help their legacy more than hurting it.

BJ Penn will always be respected for his "just scrap" attitude and willingness to move up and take dangerous fights way outside his natural weight class. Conor should be respected for doing the same in the modern mma game where the competition pool is much deeper and more dangerous.

It was a learning experience for him tonight, but he will be back. I see him winning his fight at fw to maintain control of the title and moving up for a title shot after Dos Anjos' next shot.

I agree. Learn from this mistake. Waste Edgar and then go to LW. Leave WW the f**k alone.

It was but he would have fared poorly at 155 against RDA.

Credit to Nate for moving up and not having a full camp! what a machine

I'm a long time Diaz bros fan so obviously was rooting for Nate, but Conor was really busting Nate up in the first round. Those were some heavy shots even for an iron chin. Nate and Nick can always survive. If that was anyone else in there Conor would have knocked somebody out in the first. So Conor can't feel too bad about his performance. Just simply punched himself out.

But great fight by both fighters. This will go down in history as a classic. Great comeback by Nate.

Oh, FFS. It was for all intents, and purposes only a one division jump. Knock off the rhetoric, and excuses. Afterall... Wasn't his next victim to be an actual WW ? In fact... Either Robbie, or GSP ?

It's certainly not Nate's fault you guys bought the BS. But, you're fucking 100% responsible for running with it to ridiculous extents.

I seriously don't believe most Conor fans have anything more than a rudimentary grasp of MMA. They certainly know NOTHING about the history of MMA ( It's previous big stars, and fights ). Every damn thing Conor did. His fans went full asshole on. He's the first to do this, this, and this. Only to be owned within a matter of minutes with proof contrary to Conor fleas.

Trying sitting down and shutting the fuck up. Crap talk is fun... but what assholes in here did with Ronda, and Conor is truly fucking pathetic.

That's not what happened.

Two true LIGHTWEIGHTS fought without cutting weight, that's all.

(and one of them on a few days notice).

Oh FFS. Conor didn't go up two weight classes.

He fought ONE weight class up without a dehydration/rehydration cycle.

The bout was at welterweight. He didn't fight a welterweight.

BJ Penn should, but isn't, respected for beating the top, dominant guy in the weight class above after a long layoff. Cloner couldn't even beat an out of shape guy, who was the same size as him and had no camp.

Props to shitting the bed after talking that smack and coming off like a guy who can only beat self proclaimed manlets. He better get ready to get back on that salad diet and cut 40 pounds. The other 170'ers would knock him into next year.,

He started his career at LW. Nate is a LW. He essentially moved back to his original division. This should not and is not an excuse.

He fought a poor fight strategically and got outclassed. Be humble. Conor was. Maybe he'll come back and do better in a rematch, but excuses are pathetic.

Going up 'two weight' classes was just zuffa marketing.

Even Joe Rogan said it like it was 'this is two lightweights fighting without a water cut'.

McMuffin has no business at LW, deal with it.
Because that's what it is, he fought a lightweight, Nate Diaz. They both didn't cut weight, that's it.

He was fighting LW fighter at WW. And Conor himself is a natural LW actually. He didn't fight Hendricks or Thompson, he fought LW who didn't have time to cut weight.

The bout was at welterweight. He didn't fight a welterweight.

He fought a LW at WW because there was no time for a safe weight cut for one of them.

Why is this so difficult to comprehend? Characterizing this as moving up two weight classes is a complete mischaracterization.

He didn't fight a WW fighter. Nate is a LW. They both just didn't have to cut weight. If Nate would have cut weight, he would have cut to 171, not 169.

Exactly... there is nothing to debate about the weight class change. Nate would kill Conor at 155 with a full camp. And BOTH fighters are natural 155ers... Conor was killing himself to hit 145...

He fought a lightweight fighter at welterweight. I guarantee you they weighed close to the same inside the octagon. If Nate had have had a full training camp and made the cut to 155 he would have been sharper and in better shape and the fight would have gone even worse for Conor. Instead Nate took the fight on 11 days notice with little to no sparring for preparation. Conor had every advantage going into this fight.
