Many fans don't understand why he is highly appreciated by very specific part of mma fanbase, UFC gold isn't everything, only witnessing his achievements and understanding the context around his challenges is why he is great.

Without doubt, Mousasi is one of the best ever.
Maybe #1 outside UFC ?

Don’t care much for Moose and thought he lost vs Shlemenko, but it’s worth noting that he’s now beaten every UFC opponent he lost to. Also Demetrious Johnson called him one of the top 5 all-time.

Good list, mate...

Its still strange to me how posters here are trying to discredit him...

Mousasi would be Adesanya's biggest challenge in the MW at this moment...and he has a damn good chance at beating him.

Well...thanks to the stupidity of the UFC, we wont see that.

If I'm not mistaken he even Ko's Musashi and Kyotaro, fucking Mousasi is a beast. Over 10 years in the top 10, UFC fanboys will always discredit him because he was never champion but the man is a fucking legend.

He is just 35 years old and still do well against top level fighters. Can not Blain him. His record is similar to Alistair Overeem who also won in K-1 tournament

Overeem is a pretty great comparison actually.

He's a HOF. He's got alot of good wins and the longevity to keep fighting at a top level.

Reem is a good comparison, great careers, won titles everywhere but UFC.

Always wanted him to fight Bisping. I don’t think he would have lost a round. Shane it never happened when Bisping held the belt. One of the best never to hold UFC gold without a doubt

Mousasi's career is impressive but hes a choker in MMA

He does have awesome kickboxing wins but his mma resume is made up of

  • Journeymen
  • top fighters in their decline
  • inexperienced fighters
  • smaller fighters

He just doesnt have any wins against top fighters in their prime that belong to his weight class

Also his loss to Uriah Hall is embarassing

(8-3 UFC run during his absolute prime) with 0 top wins says it all

An all time great win list. He can beat anyone put in front of him, but has definitely shit the bed a few times.

His initial interview " Gegard Mousasi and Jon Jones are the 2 greatest mmartists I've seen".
Him and coach[ hume] break down tape on Gegard because of his adaptability and transitioning to any style/ base and his insouciant nature in doing it .
