this would be gegards perfect first fight in the UFC. Mousasi wants a top ten fighter and people who doubt his wrestling skills will have the chance to see if he has improved his tdd enough to hang with the elite of the division.
Although Phill might end mousasis hype by King Mo style that can help the UFC rebuild one of their future contenders. Win/Win for everyone imo and most likely matchup

If Mousasi wins this weekend this could potentially be a fight on the UFCs radar, but I think they give Mousasi more of a 'gimme' fight first, to kinda give him a nice introduction to those fans who don't know him.

No way. Mousasi gets a fight to showcase his skills first. One he should dominate.

If Mousassi wants a title shot, then he needs to fight a guy like Phil Davis.

Why not just make mousasi vs shogun and have a great fight? Mousasi is new but somewhat proven shogun is coming off a loss.

Davis is the worst fighter that can clearly beat Gegard, I think. Terrible stylistic matchup.

As long as Gegard could stop Phil's td's he'd strike his way to at ud.

gegard's striking is second to none, there is always a chance he could win.

people also tend to underestimate his submission skills the guy has 10 subs and has won twice with upkicks, he isn't exactly helpless on the ground.

Gus is a better fight for him and the fans than Davis.

If they wanted to promote Mousasi, I don't think this would be a good first fight. Mousasi is always dangerous, but I'd imagine it looks really ugly, much like his fight with King Mo. He'd deal more damage standing and from his back, but ultimately lose the positional game and a decision.

and if Phil Davis gets Mike Tyson level striking he'll easily beat Gegard.

i don't know guys. some of you are positive that davis would lnp him...i think it's a possibility but not necessarily a bigger possibility than mr wonderful getting caught in 15/25 minutes. i remember so many people making the claim that davis was getting outstruck by prado in their first match before the eyepoke, and that he had terrible stand-up. where are they now?
