Can someone link me to the site where the guy rides a bike from Canada to South America, has a crash somewhere, gets paralyzed and ultimately dies?

wow crazy story . i was about to close after page 6 but saw the thing under the dude's name.

sad story bro

As a rider I don't know why tge fuck you would want to read that shit.

thanks

I'm not sure why I wanted to read it again, I was just thinking about it and couldn't find it myself. I've watched all kinds of movies and never had any issues but the movie, Into The Wild, gave me nightmares for several days, this story had a similar effect. I didn't dream about it but it touched me. Obviously it touched lots of people the thread is still going.

I envy people that have this sort of adventurous spirit, unfortunately not every story has a happy ending. I've ridden a motorcycle from Mexico to Canada but going into Mexico, down to South America is a completely different animal.

Thanks again for finding the thread

There is a term for the strip of jungle that separates Mexico and South America. Can't remember what it is. Basically impossible to survive through there because if the animals don't kill you the cartel will. It's a no mans land.

are there not things, stories or people that you measure yourself against?

I've pushed the limits in areas, I've gone on real adventures, the difference between me and these type of people is mine was a vacation, theirs a lifestyle.

Why would you call this shit and how can you not relate to it in some way,who do you measure yourself against?

You're going the other direction with this. The spirit and adventure I can relate to. The dying part is where I decide that it's not a story I want to read twice. I also have a thing about death on a personal level. It's not a topic I like to think about or address at all.

If I remember he killed himself no?

I was thinking about doing a similar ride but from Columbia down to Brasil a while back. Maybe someday.

Wait, this is the same guy who wrote the suicide note while dying.

I don't know why I didn't put the two together till now.

The Darien Gap in Panama. I live 30 minutes from the start...

The North America to Tiego del Fuego ride is becoming one of the biggest lost opportunities of my life.

this is what I'm talking about. regrets filled by your own version of a similar challenge, not exactly the same, often not near as difficult, but a push to the edge with the same consequences paid if a misstep was made.

To those that have never ridden, this will mean nothing, to those who do it might mean something. On the open plains, I rode a 100 mph, never venturing below 90, for hours on end. For several days averaging 550-600 miles per day, thats pushing yourself to the limit, you feel alive knowing that you're accomplishing more than most will ever try. I did it solo and I'll say with all honesty, I don't have any friends that could have kept pace.

I accomplished more than you because I achieved a better result using a jet.
