I've never seen a motivated BJ Penn. seriously. I've been a mma fan since '93. Seen Penn his whole career. The ups the downs, I've never seen this Prodigy BJ Penn that everybody else has seen. At his prime, who did he beat? Shirk? Pulver? Whatever....they were never top tier guys in be long run of the UFC. Penn should go back to running under ocean water while holding rocks. It looks really good on camera.
Just don't see him coming back in top form after this time off, and Lamas is an animal. This may be the last time we see BJ fighting in the octogon.
Sherk was a long time top 5 WW with his only losses throughout most of his career coming from GSP, Hughes and Penn. Sherk was also a former LW Champ. Pulver is s former LW champ and was a top 5 LW for a long time. But you're right, they weren't top guys... He also beat Gomi, who was the #1 LW at the time. Then he beat Hughes, who was the #1 WW at that time.
Machida beat rich Franklin before he fought bj and bj was winning the first part of the second Hughes fight until he got injured allegedly or whatever. ~DaViD~
Only Penn we should be seeing is "retired Penn." Dude used to be great great but he's lingering. I hate seeing the greats do that.
motivated 2016 is not the "motivated, mariniovich s & C, move camp to California" BJ. I'm sure he's motivated but he's been out for over 2yrs now, looked like shit his last fight, took a couple of hard beatings at 170. Not looking good. For the record if you could time warp 2009 Penn to face any verison of Lamas he walks through him. But that is not happening.
Problem was that Penn was supposed to be "Motivated" for his last fight- which he looked terrible. Nevertheless, Motivated Penn, Healthy Shogun, Strikeforce Diaz, TRT Vitor, In Shape Rampage, Chuck With The Look In His Eyes, and Prime Crocop- were true legends.
If you've been watching MMA since '93 and don't consider BJ Penn one of the best fighters of all time, I'm assuming you are probably mentally handicapped. While your ambitious opinion is received in good faith, as you clearly don't know any better with your condition, I'm still inclined to say....
According to jjdowns-syndrome... Why don't you run off and practice falling down? I'll let you know when we need your ill advised opinions again.
