This is a personal preference which most won't share but I was always amazed how the "boring" counter-striker Lyoto Machida made then undefeated, absolutely brutal, merciless and menacing roid-monster Thiago Silva look like a clueless amateur for a whole round and then knocked him the fuck out right at the bell with a coup de grass diving punch.

Your lack of MMA knowledge is showing. Fedor has fought every fight at HW. And if you mean his record against opponents who have fought or could have fought at MW or LHW, then he has easily a winning record against them. Arona, Sobral, Sonnen, Lindland + multiple cans.

Fedor would have also been a bad match up for Randy.

None of your nerds mentioned a real classic beatdown.

    JOE LAUZON VS. GABE RUDIGER

Joe Lauzon bangs Gabe Rudiger like a salvation army drum

Another beatdown that doesn't come to mind aka you guys is

    MATT BROWN VS. STEPHEN THOMPSON

Yeah so Stephen puts Matt brown DOWN, then gets wrestle fucked and dominated for the remaining two rounds.

You were concerned because you knew Vitor was gonna KO Fedor worse than 43 year old Hendo did.

Vitor with his much faster straight punches would have sliced right through Fedor's wild swinging wide hooks.

There's a plethora of MW's I can mention who would have destroyed the supposed "HW GOAT". Never mind the actual LHW's or even HW's.

Gsp on fitch and alves. These two were on decent streaks and earned a title shot just to be made to feel like amateurs.

no, thats a DAMN good one. in retrospect people may have forgot how scary Silva was and Machida toyed with him before knocking him stiff with a sweet trip punch combo. GREAT CALL and thanks for the memory

He would but most of Sherdog will never admit it. Jones is a terrible matchup for Fedor and go watch Fedor vs Cro Cop again and make note how both of them, like everyone else from that era, are entirely incapable of feinting. That would not serve them well especially against current day Jones with his reach and some of the best defense in MMA.

Yeah, but roids are also rampant in Jones. Even Steven

    Underrated?

    GSP over Frank Trigg

Especially since Trigg said before the fight that GSP is a B-level fighter, and that he and Matt Hughes are the only A-level fighters at WW.

Really? I remember that fight being a really good and fairly even match-up. Both guys are two of my all time favorites, and the fight lived up to the hype. Nog won pretty clearly, but Couture was game and was in it for the whole fight.
It was a 29-28 decision, Fightmetric gave it 346 - 304 Effectiveness scores.
    A decisive outcome, but I wouldn't call it a beat-down.

Randys 13 years older than Nog with a life time of wrestling mileage. Randy didn't start MMA until he'd finished his international wrestling career at 34.

Randys career is like if Askren had kept wrestling and had his first mma fight this year.

At Nogs age in the fight, Randy hadn't even started mma.

As I said earlier in this thread, mileage and the amount of time fighting is absolutely the most important aspect of determining a fighters coming decline. It's why guys like DC are able to compete in their 40s, because he started when he was exactly 30 years old, while guys like Stefan Struve at the age of 31 should probably retire because he's been getting knocked the fuck out professionally since he was 17 years old.

Nog is 70 years old in terms of fight mileage. There isn't another fighter that I can think of that has taken more damage or has had more surgeries on literally all of his body parts. Hips, knees, arms, eye, back, leg, the whole gambit.

Anyone that tries to tell me Nog was ever even remotely youthful in the UFC is absolutely insane.
Randy and Nogueira are from the same era. They are the same in terms of fight mileage... One can easily argue Nog is worse off.

How Diaz-Lawler was a beat down? Please, confess, you wanted to post that gif because you are a Diaz fan, otherwise is totally unrelated

I think the beating Frankie put on Yair was under-appreciated by the fans.
It was man against boy stuff.
