Title. What is your personal vote for an amazing fight that doesnt get the praise it deserves?

My vote goes to Aldo/Mendes 2

I remember going into this fight most people were writing Chad off because he got starched in the first fight, and this was also around the same time people started shitting on Aldo for coasting to decisions.

But lo and behold, 5 rounds of back and forth madness with both guys on the brink of being put away only to come back seconds later. Aldo showed why he is/was considered the 145 GOAT and Mendes showed why hes been a perennial top 3-5 guy for so long.

Also featured one of the least talked about, high profile ref fuck ups in the first round:

All in all, fucking great fight. Probably permanently cracked each others chins a good amount in the same night

    Whats your pick?

Mir vs cro cop. It had such a shocking ending the crowd was silent.

I still think Khabib vs Trujillo is just ridiculous.

I don't disagree that was an unbelievable fight but to be fair a lot of refs would have stopped it in the first when Aldo dropped him and landed like 20 unanswered GNP strikes.

As for the "most in talked about ref fuckups" that's kind of bullshit, Aldo was already throwing the combo when the horn went, there was nothing a ref could have done about it and if anything Chad was saved by the bell.

That fight ended up being the greatest FW title fight to date but it could have just as easily been over in round 1 and saved Aldo a lot of unnecessary career shortening punishment despite it being a clear 4-1 in his favor.

Goddamn did I love Aldo-Mendes II.

    Good call.

A great ground battle that doesnt get enough love was Diego Sanchez vs Jon Fitch.

Insane amount of reversals and scrambles. Amazing fight IMO

Just watched the fight, the jab and the straight were both after the bell

I dont disagree that Goddard couldnt have done much to stop that but i think a point deduction should always be warranted for shots after the bell, especially when it clearly hurts the other guy. Clear win for Aldo regardless though

You might be right, haven't seen it in a while but I thought he threw as the horn went and Mendez, Aldo and Goddard all said it was so loud in the arena none of them actually heard the horn.

It was silent because half of the arena left early. Was an awful fight that ended with a legend getting KTFO cold yet again.

Leben vs. Sexyama at UFC 116 is one of favorite fights of all-time. I remember UFC 116 and 117 being one of the most entertaining stretches of fights in MMA history.

That was the first card that was so good I stayed up on this damn website all night from excitement. That’s when I knew MMA was on a whole different level of entertainment than other sports. It’s not always like that but on a perfect night at its peak no other sport or league comes close to a UFC PPV like that.
