So awkward. The crowd couldn't believe it,stipe's team couldn't believe it.

It was more quiet than a stadium holding a moment of silence...

I actually heard a Brazilian crowd even more silent than this one after the main event. Can't remember which fight it was, though :(

Went from Mardi gras to Japanese event in one punch

Reminds me of Chuck-Rashad.

Quieter than when OSP wrecked Shogun in Brazil.

Stipe's "I'm a world champ! I'm a world champ!" with the crowd totally quiet was amazing lol

you have to call it like you see it - the brazilian crowds are pathetic. this guy just won the HW world title with a spectacular KO, and they give him total silence because he's not 'their guy'. nowhere else on earth do they show fighters that level of disrespect.

total lack of class, brainless nationalism at its very worst.

It always happen. Even if the fight is exciting like the fight of that dude that beat Sage was, they only react when they dude is winning.

Makes the annoying "USA!" chants look genteel by comparison.

Brasil has always been disrespectful when there Brazilian fighter is losing/lost. It used to piss me off to ther point of turning the tv off, now i just look forward to tasting all the salt mines on Sherdog.

I disagree. I think it's more that normally a fighter will have a contingent of his own fans travelling to follow him. American fans seem less inclined to do so until somebody is a proven winner. Irish fans travelled for Conor before he was champ, British fans outsang American fans when Hatton was almost certain to lose to Floyd, and Canadians would always be present if GSP fought elsewhere. Stipe just didn't have anybody who cared enough to fly and get behind him.

Rumble silenced Sweden pretty good with TKO over Gus.

But Brazil got real quiet.
