My guess is WW but the greatest numbers (and Im not taking talent or competition, pure population and numbers) has got to be between LW and WW. The average US male is 5'9" so this would make sense.

What are your thought and does anyone have actual numbers?

It takes a minute or two to check UFC.com and check the rosters of each weight class that have a total on the bottom of the page.

I'll even get you started:
LW has 113 fighters on the roster and WW has 114 fighters on the roster.

The average American is 5'9" and a chubby 25% body fat 180LB. IN SHAPE the average American is probably a LW or a FW. World wide the average IN SHAPE is probably BW or FW

Go ahead and finish up your work, your halfway there and I have hw to do. Ill check back don't worry.

They use a routine that scans ufc website for fighter pages. They spot when fighters added and released. A lot of media outlets use them as the source for fighter cuts

It's more accurate than the ufc totals which are generally wrong as they are done manually by a gopher

You're from the states, so you know damn well it's HW.

LHW needs more fighters. Something like only 35 fighters on the whole roster.

That being said, I think I enjoy watching the middleweights fight the most. Personal preference.

the light weightclasses, its cheap labour for UFC.

I think a lot of LW could fight at MW naturally (no weight cut) but don't want to get crushed by the guys that do cut weight to make 185.

Yeah some of them are that heigh. I think for Cerrone to be in there is silly guy is skinny but he's 6'0.

I agree w Rogan, they should do same-day weigh ins, more natural and guys would have way more stamina and exciting fights.

Not even same day, same hour, weigh-ins. Like right before the fight.

Step on the scale then step in cage. I'm for it. Where's the petition? I'd sign.

Id be curious to know the history of weight cuts because I know they do it in wrestling and boxing too even at high school levels but it really makes no sense for them to attempt to lose and then gain weight so quickly.

I see no purpose to it. Maybe you could claim it gives them a more natural weight with the cleanse and nothing but muscle and tendon left but I don't think that's true either, you got what you got. Not like you can cheat by packing on more muscle or fat or something.

I might be on the minority but when I was watching Hendrick vs Robbie 2 I was thinking this is a WW fight but both fighters are 190+ right now. That's stupid to me. How are both of you fighting for the 170 crown but neither of you are 170 pounds?

I'm a big fan of Machida in his LHW days because he walked around 208 tops. Plus LW Frankie. Frankie woke up in the morning pissed and weighed 157 pounds.

Just my opinion.

What do you mean? Of course you'd want the advantage if you could cut the weight and regain it.
In fact, if those were the rules you'd be a fool to not cut and fight lighter.

I don't think any of those was as bad a Rumble that's the one case it went too far.

What's crazy is a lot of these fighters that get popped for PEDs aren't using steroids or testosterone. They're getting popped for diuretics. Stuff that helps you shed weight. Cheating to cut weight tells me something has to be done.

Thats what makes those 2 guys p4p greats in my opinion. They went out and beat the best guys despite being much smaller

You get banned for diuretics? Maybe if they have ephedra, a stimulant in them. Which could also be considered a performance enhancer. Otherwise i dont think you'd get a ban for a diaretic.

NVA considers diuretics a tier 2 substance. They're no-no's. Certain ones used to specifically to cut weight.

It's the type of stuff Alves was taking to make weight.
