I've always wondered who are, in order, the top Brazilian fighters in popularity.

I know Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort are very popular, but what about Shogun, Aldo, JDS,Machida,Barao,Wanderlei,Big Nog and Lil Nog, Fabricio Werdum, Glover Taxeira...

Are they all big draws in Brazil?

Could you list me in order all of those names for biggest draws.

    Question for a Brazilian fan

I have a follow up question: What non-Brazilian fighters, if any, are popular in Brazil?

Anderson is far greater than anyone as far as name recognition. After that it would be Nogueira and Belfort. Aldo has been gradually built up ever since UFC 142, and Cigano is more on less on the same level as him. Machida and Shogun are not far behind. Bar

From reading the comments section in globoesporte(mainstream website that covers all sports) everyone seems to like Hendricks for quite some time(ever since he knocked out Fitch) and dislike GSP

I'd imagine somthing like Andy/Vitor>BigNog/Shougn/Jose/Lyoto/Junior>Renan>The rest
For non brazilians, Chael probably has his share of fans now, I guess Ronda and Jones wouldn't do bad.
Fedor was crazy popular during his days.

Among the hardcore fans: Fedor, Hendo and Penn would be the fighters with more brasilian fans.

Among the casual fans: I think the olny one well known is Sonnen.

among casuals, Big Nog is as big as Anderson Silva. "Minotauro" is the most recognizable MMA name around here and the only time I recall hearing casuals mentioning that they bought a PPV lately was the Nelson fight and they didn't even know that Big Nog was on the downside and were shocked that he was KO silly by a fatty.

Vitor is more recognizable than them among people who don't even know what's MMA because he is a diva around here.

now among hardcore fans Fedor is the as much loved as any local fighter.

Half of the handful listed here will be retiring and/or winding down their careers in the next few years. Expect to see all kinds of up and coming fighters given gimme pointless fight on card$ and hyped to the moon out of desperation by the UFC.

Anderson became the most popular because of Sonnen. He also has the most haters.

Vitor is the most known other than him. Everyone agrees he is a great fighter, but the TRT issue and his preaching get him some haters as well.

Wanderlei is very well known and his popularity was very high in the first season of TUF Brazil he coached. Now it's at an all time low.

Big Nog is well known and popular, but Lil Nog not so much

Shogun and Machida have similar levels of popularity imo.
