I missed some of the prelims, but to me three fighters really stood out and performed above my expectations last night.
Michael Bisping, Max Holloway, and Dustin Poirier.
Bisping finally gets his title shot and wins the belt with a clean KO finish when no one, myself included, gave him a real chance.
Despite Holloway being the favorite, I thought Holloway vs. Lamas was a toss up going in. Holloway thoroughly impressed me with his use of range. I already knew he had great striking, but it looks to only be getting better. Then he was able to stuff quite a few take downs and even threaten with submissions. And then he let a bro bang despite dominating the fight.
Bobby Green is a very good fighter despite getting very little recognition for it. Poirier completely wrecked him and looked extremely sharp with his hands. I think 155 will be a good weight class for him. His post fight screaming was pretty lame though.
Of these three, I was obviously most shocked by Bispings performance, but I think I was most impressed with Holloway.
