what would you say is the most important workouts for a wreslter, with weights i mean. like would you say the bench press is most beneficial for the average wrestler? or squat or legg press? just curious.

Deadlifts, power cleans, chins, and curls in the squat rack.

You shouldnt be concerned with a single exercise...Try to incorporate as much as possible as they all benefit one another.

deadlifts

Works about every muscle, especially the grip and posterior chain. Grip was one of the things my wrestling coach focused on. Also working the neck for bridging and the legs for just about everything wouldn't hurt either.

Cleans, man, cleans. Followed closely by the snatch.

Deads, Power cleans, clean and press, weighted chins

One armed kettlebell twisting snatches while standing on a swiss ball.

that's not even funny, that's how we lost my uncle Jimmy.

I, for one, prefer three-armed church bell one-and-a-half-rep power cleans while standing on a Swiss's balls. Or just good ol' wet, pink snatches.

Really, I'd probably say deadlifts and cleans. I want to say thickbar cleans would be better than regular and more valuable to a wrestler, but the catch is different and I'm not sure how much the weight used will be limited by the bar, and IMO, outside of grip training your grip shouldn't limit the weight you're using. So I'd go with deadlifts, cleans, and thickbar dealifts... in fact, I think I may incorporate some thickbar deads into my routine, I miss the bastards.

Thickbar deads, Kettlebells or Clubbell Exercises, Back bends into Bridging, Thick Chinup or towell chins.

when john smith was training for the olympics the only lift he did was power cleans
