Morgan Spurlock's 'Inside man' is an underrated TV show.

I have done a lot of reports on 'big data' companies like Acxiom and Epsilon a little while back while finishing my undergrad, the 'inside man' episode on big data wa excellent. The few I have seen are very good. Looking foreword to the episode on robotics coming up. Anybody else like the show?

I binged the first 2 seasons on Netflix. I don't agree with every angle he takes, but damn good show.

The guy is a clown and a known liar / deceiver. His work on "Supersize Me" was a fucking joke and he should be ashamed of himself for the lies he and his vegan ilk spewed forth.

He's not wrong. Spurlock is a hack, who got famous by documenting facts about McDonalds that everyone with half a fucking brain already knew, and gave obese people even more excuses to not take responsibilty for their own actions. Super Size Me is a very irresponsible documentary, when you think about it. But hey, he ate a lot of shit and puked on camera, so let's give him some awards.

I liked Supersize me. I showed it to my kids. They are not huge fast food fans. Everybody pretends to know (with their inside internet knowledge ) that Spurlock is not on the level for wtevr reason, but everything I have seen of him is made really well./ Inside Man is a really good show. Like another poster said, he is kind of forced into an angle to take with some shows, angles that may not be flexible enough to be completely honest, but you can still think for yourself because of the large amount of facts usually presented.

It's not "pretending to know". His documentary style is very pedestrian, and crowd pleasing. I'm not saying he's a stupid man, as I'm sure it's all very calculated to appeal to the masses, but that's what he is.

    Supersize Me was largely bullshit.

He claimed to have been eating over 5,000 calories a day. Even basic math, applied to his "rules" of the experiment would have him eating far less than 5,000 calories a day. A Swedish university did a controlled study, where subjects would have to eat 6,000 calories a day in fast food, and none of them suffered the high cholesterol, liver damage, drastic weight gain, or depression that Spurlock did.

The worst side effect of the diet? Fatigue, which was likely caused by super-sped metabolisms.

I'm not saying the dude doesn't have good content in the other shit that he does, but what made him famous was a giant pile of bullshit propaganda. I hate McDonalds and never ate the shit even before I got on my health kick, but spreading outright lies about fast food is ridiculous.

Not to mention, I'd wager that very few people eat a diet even close to what he did on Supersize me; And the message was that fast food was making America fat?

Nah. America's overall laziness and desperate need for instant gratification is making Americans fat. Nobody is putting a gun to people's heads and making them eat like shit.

BULLSH*T. I had depression for a couple years, and diet was a big part of it. Even today, if I eat fast food in any large quantity, I feel like garbage for a day or two. Most normal people would feel pretty depressed eating like that, that's fkn common sense. You feel much better when you eat healthy, unless you are a teenager. Even then..

So, you can call "bullshit" on just one tiny portion I mentioned based on anecdotal evidence?

Sure, depression and overall mental health can be tied to diet and physical health. Are people going to go from normal and well adjusted to depressed and having severe mood swings over the course of a month of unhealthy eating? Probably not.

I'll take a medical study conducted under the supervision of a doctor over your idea that a month of unhealthy eating can severely damage the mental health of people.

You would be amazed at what healthy eating and exercise can do for depression.

I firmly believe that eating McD's for a month would make almost anybody sick.

Yep, agree on the Supersize Me part.
Who would've thought eating a gigantic, calory/fat ridden burger every day, for however long, would cause health problems?

Try eating one cucumber a day and fuck all else, and see what happens also.

And your belief seems to be based in no reality whatsoever.

No one has been able to replicate his results.

Yes; That food is terrible for you. But the human body isn't going to crumble after a month of junk food.

agreed with the hate on supersize me. what they dont emphasize enough was that his was engaged to a vegan chef before he started filming, so he wasnt used to the food at all. jesus christ HE THREW UP THE FIRST MEAL. using him as an example on fast food, is like an american going to thailand and eating their spicy food and documenting the effects, then implying theyre regular for all thai people.

if you eat mcdonalds you get used to it, i eat it once a month or so when im taking my little cousin to get a happy meal and im fine, my friends who occasionally eat it are fine. but my if sister (who eats a mostly vegan diet and juices veggies everyday for breakfast) eats mcdonalds once, she seems like shes going jnto a coma

even then, his results didnt make sense, his other research in the movie besides himself was good though

This is also a great point I never put together. If the dude is largely vegan [not completely sure] and switches to eating straight up junk animal-based food, of course he's going to be sick.

I've been vegan for about 9 months now, and if I ate a cheeseburger, I'd get sick in a hurry.

No, no he did not throw up on the first mean. He threw up on the double QP with cheese supersized after a week or two.

It's such internet bandwagon crap to bash Supersize me, a bunch of haters probably following shilled info spread by fast food companies. If it would have been fabricated, or contained too many lies, you think he would not have got CRUSHED by the MacDonalds legal team? Been sued out of his mind? Been ostracized by big money in the media? It wasn't BS. Dude ate garbage for a month. He didn't die, I'm not sure he embellished much at all. He felt like crap, was on hos way to diabetes, and gained some weight. Sorry..

Tons of people have tried to replicate his results and couldn't.

At the very least, he outright lied about the amount of calories he was eating every day.

There is evidence that straight up points to it being bullshit.

And I'm vegan. I'm not buying into false information spread by the fucking fast food industry.

You buying the bullshit spewed in that dog shit documentary points to you being more of a sham than the people who look at outside evidence and call bullshit.

If it was a total sham, they would have sued him for everything he had.
