Chuck was massive back in the day, he and Tito did some huge numbers. Ronda is also stratospheric right now with all the mainstream publicity.

    Who gets the nod?

The sport has a higher profile now which helps Rousey. Have to say Ronda.

MMA has far more main stream attention/recognition today than it did in Chuck's prime.

Ronda and it's not even close. My 71 year old dad asks me when she's fighting and I guarantee you he's never heard of Chuck Lidell

Ronda for sure. At this point I wouldn't be surprised if Obama knew who Ronda was.

I love Chuck but it's clearly Ronda.

If you think about it, at the time MMA as a whole wasn't as popular. So they're probably equal.

Chuck was a far more entertaining Fighter but unfortunately, because of the high profile UFC has now I have to say Ronda

I don't know if anyone else has picked up on this but.

The most popular fighters in the history of the UFC happen to be the fighters they've put more time, and money into promoting than anyone else.

I'm having a great deal understanding what exactly is driving their popularity.

Truth is Chuck is the reason Ronda is mainstream. She probably is bigger now tho.

Eh, the most popular draw ever was Lesnar & UFC could barely get him to do any press
Next was GSP who never had a ton of publicity & after that Anderson.
The UFC just recently started the hype machine (as far as putting money into it) & it is paying off
Also (don't forget) that Aldo was 50% of the fight hype (until he pulled out) as well.
People just took to Conor a LOT more

    This.

However, Prime Chuck was badass and awesome and likeable, even more than Ronda.
