As some of you might know, I'm a brown belt under Master de la Riva, and I recently gave a seminar on the de la Riva guard, here in the UK.
So, now I'm sharing a little bit of that seminar with you. In part 1 we're starting with the basics of the de la Riva guard, how to maintain and hold the de la Riva hook:
David Morcegao shows how to maintain and hold the de la Riva guard.

That's a fantastic vid, I can't wait to see the rest.
If you have any tips on preventing him from stuffing your non-DLR foot from his hip to between his legs I'd love to hear them (both when you have same-side grip and cross-grip). This is where my DLR is weak.

This is what I do. Also what Rafael Mendes does. You don't have to transition to the berimbolo after, but you basically use the momentum to push back up and reset your angle.
That's what I do now: any time my foot is stuffed I immediately go to reverse DLR, which works really well for me.
Where I'm weak is preventing the foot from getting stuffed in the first place. People seem to do it waaaaaaaay to easily on me.
