Monson vs. Fedor

I predict a simillar fight like the two Coleman-FEdor ones. But Fedor knocking out Monson and not submitting him.

Jesus..I love Monson..he just comes off as a great guy in everything I ever seen/read about him..but I can not see him winning by any means. He is going to get knocked out cold.

Then again. I can respect the risk he is taking. The UFC has no room in the heavy weight division for him. If he fights AA and wins..then he loses because they won't do another Monson VS Silvia fight. If/When AA fights Silvia and AA wins..then Monson Vs AA would be benefitial for him but who knows when this is going to happen? This is a good step for him because he can absorb another loss, and perhaps another organzation will pick him up.

If he wins? Jesus it will be huge.

Hopefully while Monson is in Russia he can talk to some people there and find how wonderful communism is/was.

In the meantime I will be rooting against him - nothing personal I just don't like anarcho-communists.

Monson has a *shot* and by shot I mean maybe going to a decision with Fedor. The only way to go the distance with Fedor right now is to put him on the mat and control him (much easier said than done).

Arona did this and fared pretty well. I think that Monson is stronger and possibly better suited to control Fedor than Coleman...

but damn, with the recent Monson/Sylvia and Fedor/Coleman fights in mind, this fight looks bad fight for Monson.

Considering that Fedor has fought guys (and demolished) who are better at everything than Monson is, the only chance he gets is either luck or Fedor's inevitable off-night. Other than that he doesn't have a snowman's chance in hell.

And I will not excuse the cheesy pun.

I dont even get why they made this fight.

My guess is to make some sort of profit, so they could exchange it for goods and services.

You need to read some books about history and politics. Then come back and reread what you just wrote. And for now. Please leave S&P.

What amazes me is that Fedor didnt have one ofnight so far. Its fightsport and its the HW division. Yet noone manged to land a lucky punch so far. Closest were Fujita and Randleman (however Fedor survived this slam - he did).
The UFC and Pride both seem to run out of qualitiy new blood in the HWdivision. So its just logical to have their fighters compete against each other.
And Arona-Fedor is that long ago that you could say Vitor is better than Wandy as well as he knocked him out those days and they havent faced for a rematch since then as far as I know.
What I would really like to see is Fedor picking apart Silvia. Although Silvia earned some respect in his fight against Monson (he really did great) I just dont like this guy (this is purely subjective, nothing to back this dislike up with).

but i wanted a peanut...

i don't see this being a bad fight at all, i think their styles will make an interesting fight. Alot better then monson sylvia but really what isn't better.

i like both fighters but i see Fedor winning by whatever he wants, when he wants. Fedor basically sparred with Coleman in the u.s. fight. he could have ended that one whenever he wanted to.

True about Arona, but he is technically the closest someone has come to beating Fedor, regardless of when it was IMO (excluding Fujita, we all know how that ended).

Monson could not take dwon and control Timmeh, that points to him having no chance of doing so against Fedor, if this fight remains standing then he has the survival chances of a jellyfish in a blast furnace.

I kinda like Monson, but 5'10" is too short for a heavyweight, especially one who isn't excellent at stand-up and wants to take the fight to the ground (not that that's a great ploy against Fedor, remember Nog?).

I could not agree more..5'10 would be fine if someone could punch, who lived off punching alone, ala Tank or Cabbage..but 5'10 and being a ground fighter? Not much chance..but then again, I can't think of a 5'10 heavy weight in Monson's shape..so who knows. I hope he puts up a good fight, I really do.

RIP jeff Monson. Arona did well, but that was in Rings where ground and pound was not allowed. I see this fight going like Fedor-Herring, with Monson rolling around like an ape and Fedor shattering his face.

This fight blows, and is just a sign that MMA is moreso moving towards the realms that most other Sports do. Profit > competition.

You don't give a guy who just lost a fight to a Champion who is a poster-boy for mediocrity a fight against a guy who is touted as a wrecking machine and arguably the best fighter in MMA in that weight class.

As of late, Fedor = all about the Benjamins.

Who can beat Fedor....? Thats the question..?

Perhaps one of the great strikers... Mirko couldnt.... I doubt Hunt can either at the end of the month...

In a way Monson propably have a better chance than most at winning stylewise... That doesnt mean I think he will, im just saying its about as hard a match as Fedor can get right now except for the top 3 bellow him in Pride (and which he holds a few victories over already)... Hmm I look forward to it.
