I had a friend recently start training under a Lotus Club black belt. I know Moises Muradi had started it back in the late 80's or early 90's and he got his black belt from a Carlson Gracie black belt but I can't find much more information other than that.

Anyone know who he got his black belt from? Is Lotus Club well known in Brazil and who are some famous practitioners to come from there? I know about Juliano Prado and Give Santana (my friend's new teacher) and that's about it.

I did a search and that's about the only info I found. Their website is in Portuguese which I don't speak. All my friend knows is they came from Carlson. Thanks.

Yes Moises is the current president of the CBJJE. I've been training with Lotus Club for a little over 4 years. I currently train under Giva Santana. Giva is super dope and legit. I've only met Moises once, so I don't know much about his background. Lotus Club is centered in S

My main school isn't, but when I travelled I trained under a Lotus Club instructor and I can't recommend it highly enough-- the lineage was through Giva, too, and that guy is supposed to be so legit ("arm collector" really is so badass for a nickname). Great school, great program, great instructors.

Lotus Club is for sure legit.

Ive trained with Juliano quite a few times, and hes awesome. Met Giva and got the chance to see him roll with some Brown Belts who had just finished smashing me, and wow... He tooled them pretty bad.

lotus club is one of the coolest names for a BJJ team ever. they have a cool logo as well. cooler than most clubs that just have triangles and stuff.

i've never rolled with giva but i've rolled with juliano and he's definitely legit. he's a small guy but tools everyone. jared rollins (from TUF) is a brown belt under him.

^ Yeah ive trained with J-Roc a few times as well.

He used to train with my instructor Marcelo as well, when he was training for fights. (J-Roc is also from Long Beach. :D)

Too bad he stopped fighting. He was pretty good. Nice guy though.

It's odd how JRoc didn't use BJJ in TUF. I trained with him a few times myself. Bao has told me a lot of good things about Give.

They also still have a pretty short, strong lineage to the masters.
