Rank squatting is a serious problem but I don't think that applies here.

Moicano has been besmirched throughout his UFC tenure in two divisions when stepping up in competition. Benoit has never beaten a ranked opponent in his career and was coming off a KO loss.

This was a paycheck, winnable and headline spot for Moicano which is likely why he booked it. Beating Benoit should not make you a top 10 ranked fighter 'just because'
