This is based on the speculated rule amendments to the Mayweather vs McGregor fights and what mma fans think is a fair compromise for all modified rules mma fights moving forwards.
Firstly, it would appear that the primary objective around any modified rules fight would be to convince notable boxers and kickboxers to fight in the UFC. Therefore any modified rules should be both fair for boxers and kickboxers and fair for mma fighters.
What do you think is a reasonable set of rule accomodations for any modified rules UFC fight?
Would something like Muay Thai rules, with the complete allowance of dirty boxing and 5 minute rounds and mma gloves be fair? That would allow clinch, knees, elbows, dirty boxing, trips and sweeps. Should strikes be allowed to a grounded opponent? Should there be a standing 8 count? If there are no strikes to a grounded opponent and no standing 8 count is the opponent allowed to stand near the opponent and wait for them to get back up or do they need to go to a neutral corner?
