Ray Liotta, Juno Temple and Jeremy Piven Join SIN CITY Sequel

Sin-City-Liotta-Temple-Piven-Dragonlord.jpg

2013 could prove to be the year of Robert Rodriguez. The prolific filmmaker has always been uber-productive, but this year, we'll get a double dose: he'll have two films hit theaters within two months of each other. The first, Machete Kills will land in theaters on September 13th via Open Road and and then four weeks later, Dimension Films' Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will follow. And with cameras rolling on the highly anticipated followup to Sin City, three more actors have joined the cast.

Sources close to the production have confirmed to The Playlist that Ray Liotta (Goodfellas), Juno Temple (Killer Joe) and Jeremy Piven (Entourage) have all come on board the picture. Details on their characters are being kept under wraps for now, but the trio join some very good company.

A Dame To Kill For is chalk full of talent including original cast members Mickey Rourke as Marv, Jessica Alba as Nancy, Rosario Dawson as Gail and Jaime King as Goldie/Wendy and newcomers to the fold Josh Brolin as Dwight, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Johnny, Dennis Haysbert as Manute (replacing the late Michael Clarke Duncan) and Jamie Chung as Miho. Production is already underway at Rodriguez

Brad Bird Reveals Robert McGinnis' Poster for THE INCREDIBLES

Disney decided not to use this stunning hand-painted poster when they released Pixar's The Incredibles back in 2004. Thanks to Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol director Brad Bird, we now get to see artist Robert McGinnis' contribution to the Academy Award winning movie.

Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier to Pen New TERMINATOR

Terminator-New-0117-Dragonlord.jpg

The new Terminator film has taken another step forward closer to production. Last month it was reported that Megan Ellison’s brother, David Ellison, had come aboard the project to co-produce the next installment of the franchise through his Skydance Pictures banner alongside Megan’s Annapurna Pictures, and now the producers have tapped a couple of writers to start work on the script. Deadline reports that Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier will write the script for the new Terminator film, though further details are understandably being kept under wraps.

Kalogridis previously penned the scripts for Shutter Island and Alexander, as well as the pilot for the TV series Bionic Woman. Lussier, meanwhile, was responsible for writing 2011’s Drive Angry and received a “story by” credit on Dracula 2000, which he also directed. Not much is known about where this new Terminator stands in relation to the previous films, but Megan Ellison has confirmed that it will indeed be rated R. With screenwriters now firmly onboard, expect to hear more news regarding the next Terminator sooner rather than later.

Did anyone else watch the trailer for The Brass Teapot specifically for the thumbnail they used for the video?...

Edit: I may now be in love with Juno Temple...

No you may not. I claimed her already. I'm going to take her anal virginity soon. :p

Martin Scorsese Says SILENCE Will Be His Next Film…Again

martin-scorsese-slice.jpg

Director Martin Scorsese has only just begun to dive into post-production on his financial drama The Wolf of Wall Street, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, but he’s already looking ahead to his next project. The filmmaker has been developing an adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s novel Silence for 15 years, and is now adamant that the 17th century Jesuit priest drama will be his next film. Of course Scorsese said the same thing after wrapping Hugo, only to make Wolf of Wall Street his follow-up project instead (much to the chagrin of his investors).

Scorsese is apparently auditioning actors and looking to finally begin production on Silence in mid-2014, after the release (and presumably awards campaign) of Wolf of Wall Street this fall. Silence isn’t the only project that Scorsese is actively developing to direct, though, and there was recently some forward movement on the mob drama The Irishman.

In addition to Silence, a Frank Sinatra biopic, and a handful of other projects, Scorsese has also had his eye on directing an adaptation of the Charles Brandt book I Heard You Paint Houses for quite a while. The book chronicles the life of mob hitman Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran, who supposedly murdered Jimmy Hoffa. Robert De Niro has long been attached to star in the film adaptation, The Irishman, with Joe Pesci and Al Pacino rumored to be involved, and Deadline reports that Scorsese recently held a reading of the Steven Zaillian script with De Niro, Pesci, and Pacino all in attendance.

Charlie Hunnam to Re-Team with Guillermo del Toro for CRIMSON PEAK

charlie-hunnam-slice.jpg

Charlie Hunnam and director Guillermo del Toro must have had a great time working on Pacific Rim, because the two are already plotting another project together. Variety reports that Hunnam is in negotiations to star in del Toro’s next directorial project, a gothic romance haunted house movie called Crimson Peak. Just a few days ago it was learned that Emma Stone had entered negotiations to star, so should his deal go through Hunnam would be starring opposite the Amazing Spider-Man actress.

Plot details on Crimson Peak are understandably being kept under wraps, but del Toro previously described the project as “very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love, and at the same time subvert the old rules.” Production begins in February 2014 after del Toro wraps the pilot for the FX series The Strain.

James Franco to Star in and Direct BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE

James-Franco-0118-Dragonlord.jpg

James Franco appears driven to do everything. Recently, he produced the indie sex documentary Kink, co-directed Interior. Leather Bar, which is about the deleted 40 minutes from William Friedkin‘s controversial film Cruising, and he’s co-starring in the biopic Lovelace starring Amanda Seyfried. All three movies are premiering at Sundance, and Franco is currently gearing up more work. Deadline reports that the actor/director/producer/probably-craft-services-worker is set to lead and direct Beautiful People. The biopic centers on 1960s playboy and hairstylist to the stars Jay Sebring.

Per Deadline, “The film charts the rise of Sebring as a self-created men’s grooming pioneer, as he climbed the social ladder in Hollywood during the 60s. There is also a focus on his romantic relationship with the beautiful young actress Sharon Tate.” It’s worth noting that at the time, Tate was married to Roman Polanski and pregnant with their child.

Cint, this may be the one and only time we fight over a woman, I'll need to mentally prepare myself for what's to come, there's no telling what dark and evil things you'll throw my way.

Easy. Just tell Cinturao that Juno Temple is already 23 years-old and he'll back off.

not sure how I feel about an armstrong movie... the guy is too recognizable and current for to take an actor seriously in the role.
