MMA Vs Muay thai striking

MMA because it has Muay Thai striking and then adds to it

I heared Kiatmoo9 recently hired Firas Zahabi to help them step up their striking game.

Right, right.

Guys who've been striking for about 5 years are better strikers than Thaiboxers who've been training Muay Thai and even Boxing since they were in primary school. Makes sense.

That depends on what you mean by "striking." Some very good Thaiboxers have lost under MMA rules against people who were clearly inferior orthodox fighters, but refused to stand and trade.

Striking, you know, standing and trading shots. Punchy, kicky, kneey, elbowy...

If they lost to guys who took them down(refused to stand and trade as you say) then what does that have to do with ANYTHING?

Saenchai refuses to stand and trade in every fight he has. I imagine that's what diaz was trying to get at, standing, but not standing and banging

I'd like to see these fights where Thaiboxers lost standing up in MMA.

If you're talking about Joe Schilling, man, that guy is nothing compared too the best Thaiboxers, terrible example.

Oh, well I understand what you mean in that case, ofcourse, no "trading" involved, but still, the best Thaiboxers clearly are better strikers than pretty much anyone in MMA.

Even Wonderboy if he wasn't bigger than everyone in Thailand, would lose to the best in Muay Thai if you ask me.

True, but I imagine that would be due to the clinch rather than the kickboxing

I think a good Thaiboxer like Jomthong Chuwatana would both outbox and outkick Thompson, if they were the same size that is.

He's never been known as much of a low kicker, but he would invite Thompson to fight in a side stance, any former Lumpini champ would chop his leg in half if he didn't stand square and check.

Thompson gets away with some of his more flashy techniques because alot of the best guys in MMA aren't very good Kickboxers/Thaiboxers/Boxers or strikers in general and he's learned enough Wrestling and Grappling too keep it standing

If someone in MMA in the WW division had the skills of a Lumpini champion adapted towards MMA... I like Thompson alot, but more often than not I've seen Karate/American style Kickboxers get ruined by a competent Thaiboxer. Just going off what I've seen.

Bare in mind one thing though, while he is in a side stance that can make him vulnerable to low kicks, it's actually very hard to tell what Thompson is going to do, aside from his good boxing and head movement, he uses the same chamber for about three different kicks, which is something thais are generally unfamiliar with. Don't get me wrong I don't imagine he'd win Lumpinee or anything, but stranger things have happened

Mehdi Baghdad against Julian Erosa in Team McGregor vs Team Faber season of TUF is a perfect example. Mehdi was technically far superior, yet lost. He kept expecting Erosa to stand and trade, but Erosa instead kept taking potshots and moving away before Baghdad could retaliate.

"Mehdi Baghdad has remarkably achieved the highest title possible in Muay Thai, as the current WKBC World Champion.

Mehdi has won the K1 championship in Marseille, K1 tournament championship in Belgium and gained the Vice-Champion title in the K1 France."

What? Lots of MMA fighters are boxers and kick boxers before MMA. Are they not strikers?

I've never heard of the WKBC or Mehdi Baghdad, I just looked up the WKBC, doesn't exist from I can see.

Are you talking about WBC? As far as I know, that's not the highest level in Muay Thai and he's a foreigner, not an actual Thai who grew up training in Thailand.

Has he ever won a title at Lumpini or Rajadamnern?

From what litle I can find about him, the guy has trained outside of Thailand his entire career(In Brazil), show me a Thaiboxer who trained IN Thailand, from about the age of 8 and then you have a case.

Mind giving me the article that you got your quotes from?

K-1 title mean nothing when were strictly talking Muay Thai, that's Kickboxing and winning a K-1 title doesn't mean much these days.
