MMA statistics are idiotic

    "Best performance of his career. 11 takedowns"

    How the fuck is 11 takedowns indicative of a good performance? A good performance is 1 takedown --> finish. The only way you hit 11 takedowns in a fight is if you let the other guy get up 8 times.

    Statistics are useless without context. When you read 11 takedowns think of a fighter that presses the action and can move the fight to the ground often at will. how good they actually are or not is a different story. Statistics are useful when proof for a qualitative analysis

    Did I mention the idiocy that the UFC's statistics don't distinguish between takedowns and mat returns?
