Hello dear fellow fighters and martial arts lovers I have decided to turn down doing kung fu and just concentrate on doing mma.

So I have decided between Elite MMA which is 45 minutes away and revolution dojo which is 30min away.

Now I live 30-45 away from good Houston dojos and have been trying to find a good place to begin my mma training wether its a start in bjj or working on my standing game I have never been in a fight and don't know how to fight properly and have slow reflexes.

I wish to learn good self defense and to also enjoy competitions and earn belts with hard work and perseverance.

Does anyone know the costs of these top gyms and does anyone have any good type of fighting mma schools around the area that's not as far and for a reasonable price they can recommend if not which two out of these can you recommend since there is so many types of different schools. Thank you for the advice and god bless. If you guys do know of any good gyms I live around Pasadena tx.

Wish to hear lots of good advice thank you and god bless.

Go visit every gym you're considering. They'll have different payment options like credits or monthly no limits etc. Check it out. They'll also let you take a free trial class so if nothing else youll get several free classes. See if you like the vibe, if it's dirty, etc.

Thank you very much for the advice I heard elite and Revolution were both good so I might check them both out.

Closest gym possible, I don't care how awful the place is because you'll never go if the gym is 45 minutes away. You need it to be as close as possible and if you were serious about martial arts then move closer to the good gyms. Top gyms are going to be expensive, easily $100+ a month for just BJJ.

I understand but I cant do a sucky gym honestly I don't mind the drive as long is the school is good and I have been saving up some money put aside for bjj and I'm just trying to decide between a few schools right now.

I train at Revolution and the pricing that was offered to me was $135 for BJJ/Judo/Wrestling, $100 for Muay Thai/Boxing, or $185 for everything, per month. I haven't renegotiated in a long time though so it may be different now than it was then.

Also, I'm not exactly sure where you live but Revolution has two locations, one in Katy on the west side of Houston and one in downtown Houston. You can train at both places as much as you want for the one price.
