It truly did. "Purists" will disagree but Stipe is not a marketable champion. He has an extremely bland personality, weird name and voice, and he has recent losses so doesn't have a huge streak or undefeated record to hype. Stipe vs Brock would not sell a fraction of what Brock vs DC will and in an era where there are virtually no stars, the sport needs this attention right now

The sport just needs promotion of new talent and just general new talent. There were plenty of fights back in the day people got excited for and didn't involve stars.

But, now the promotion aspect is terrible and either there aren't new people interested in fighting or the UFC are severely lacking in recruiting.

Things were stale but that wasn't the major statement. I hope Sherdog learns a lesson about dismissing a fighter the caliber of DC. You guys with your Stipe predictions looked like a bunch of amaturers new to the sport or naive. People need to be reminded of what a shot at HW does. That was the biggest statement.
