Very few crimes can be ‘confirmed’ in the manner you are suggesting.
The victim was examined at a specialist sexual assault unit after being taken there by a member of her family less than 24 hours after the event had occurred. She was then spoken to by detectives who specialise in dealing with rape multiple times in the following days and weeks. It is the opinion of these people, who are experts, that the victim was raped. McGregor’s DNA was present in the rape kit so the allegations against him are very serious and substantive. It’s not certain that he commited this crime but there are clearly huge questions to be answered and the man is about to make millions fighting on Saturday night, it is a more than legitimate line of journalistic enquiry as to what he has to say about it.
