You really can never know anything. I remember a couple of years ago, when Chris Weidman was scheduled to fight Luke Rockhold, we all thought this is the greatest matchup in the middleweight history. We thought they were the future of the middle weight division.
Then
Weidman went out to lose his next three fights via KO and TKO.
Luke went out to lose 2 out of 3 fights via KO
All to senior citizens

No, you just bought into the UFC hype machine. Every card is "the greatest match up" or has the "future champ" on it.

Gay Guard Moo Saucey is a senior citizen compared to Whiteman? Also, Luke is a senior citizen compared to Whiteman?

No man. Its like Habib and Tony both become bums and be on a losing streak after their fight.

That’s what makes the sport so great is it’s so unpredictable anyone can win at anytime.

Well, yeah. Especially higher up in the weight divisions, where the slightest mistake is more likely to send you to the Shadow Realm.

Also you never know someone's corner could throw in a banana peel...

I’d have to agree with this.

The majority of MMA fans are naive or flat out uninformed, and susceptible to overhyped countdowns and cheesy promo lines.

Just a month ago Ngannou was supposed to be the most “dangerous fighter in HW history” and people actually fell for this marketing gimmick lol.

Don’t even let me begin with Honda being able to beat “anyone” on the UFC roster regardless of gender or weight class...

unpredictable, and then things tend to snowball. you lose confidence when you get beat up by rockhold or KOed by bisping, and then things don't always go back to the way they were.

Whatever the naysayers may proclaim, MMA is growing exponentially. Part of the reason is the unpredictability.

MMA will be one of the biggest sports in the world in a decade or so, if it isnt already. The only sport MMA can't touch in terms of reach is Football/Soccer.

I agree with you, just not not in this case.
We had every reason to believe Luke and Chris were the best talents we’ve seen at the time and that they will run the division for years to come. Its just like Habib and Tony.
This is hands down the best lightweight fight in history, imagine if both of them go on losing streaks right after they fight
