Hi everyone, I'm more into MMA than boxing but I am starting to enjoy the sweet art as well. Actually I always tought boxing was boring (besides Tyson and other few very aggresive-style fighters), but after a few years of MMA and understanding of fist fighting I bought meself a heavy bag, started watching boxing lessons vids o youtube etc.
Now, GGG is probably my fav boxer at the moment: I love his relentless pace, aggressive style, solid technique, essential footwork, lets his hands do the flashy stuff.

As a fan I must say that he did not live up to my expectations or maybe Alvarez fought a very good defensive game.
Surely GGG outpaced and probably outlanded (didn't look at the stats that much) Alvarez but I also feel that Alvarez boxed better, was much faster, had much better combos and lats but not least he was hitting GGG with sound clean shots.

So GGG gave us quantity whilst Alvarez gave us quality. I don't think the match was as lopsided as many say, GGG did not dominate Alvarez with boxing, he just outpaced him and probably "controlled" the way the fight went.

I think a draw is quite a fair results. An ALvarez victory....now THAT I would call a robbery. They both had a chance to feel each other out and I believe Alvarez will fight more aggressively next time and I feel that with the right adjustments he'll manage to TKO TripleG who seems to be slowing down a little bit and not as sharp as he used to be.

No it wasn't at all. If byrds card had been 115-113 i don't really think there would be controversy

114-114 is a reasonable scorecard but Byrd had it 118-110 to Canelo which is the most ridiculous score I can recall ever seeing in combat sports. It has no basis in reality. She should be fired immediately.

I thought GGG took it 8 rounds to 4. I wouldn't say the outcome from last night was a robbery, but I was surprised.

I'll watch a rematch, and might actually favour Canelo there. GGG does look like he's slowed down a bit, and as we've seen from his last 2 fights, his power isn't affecting the elite guys as much as it did his previous opponents.

I don't even really watch boxing, but there's no way Canelo won 10 rounds. I don't think you can give him more than 6 rounds though, and that's being nice about it. Triple G easily won 7 rounds.

no, it was a pretty close fight and people have to remember, they are not judging a fight watching it on TV with the benefit of the very best angle for every single shot

That's the thing people are missing here, if she scores it 115-113 to Canelo people probably don't go off.

The fact she could get it sooooo wrong is beyond a joke.

She gets paid for this.

I don't get people who think the fight was a draw but get hyper mad at the official results. At the end of the day you got what you saw, a draw. Why cry and shit on the whole sport over the details of how you got your draw?

I had it 8-4 GGG but there were close rounds, say Canelo shaded 2 of those it's a draw. I've seen alot if people who were in the arena score a draw so no a it wouldn't be absurd.

Byrd's card is inexcusable tho.

How could someone score this fight even close to a draw? In the big picture, this fight was "close" as in, Canelo hit GGG with some hard punches and made GGG miss a lot. But if you score into 12 separate rounds, clearly GGG won this fight by a lot. Canelo just didn't return with enough fire to win this fight. PERIOD.

I've seen it stoned and straight and I favour golovkin both times, though only by a couple of rounds! I feel the same, too close for a robbery but he clearly won imo. I think he's definately slowed down. Think they should do Jacobs vs canelo for the rematch. I thought Jacobs gave golovkin a tougher fight

The fight was amazing to watch frankly.

I watched three GGG fights right before the PPV watching how he works. Canelo although I know he is great, surprised me at how he slipped GGG's punches consistently and then countered. It was the slipping and movement that caused GGG not to dominate via his usual method. I knew Canelo could counter...duh.

I had it very very close, watched twice. Draw.

I fucking hate bad judges and this 118 card is why I hate boxing sometimes. Lifelong fan btw. I want to go Teddy on that judge.

However... at least LAST NIGHT if Golovkin came in 5% sharper, he could have taken that fight. Now I feel, all he did was give Canelo more confidence for a future encounter, so the variables have already changed.

maybe you need to look into how to score boxing a bit more

just moving forwards throwing punches does not score you rounds/points

it was a close fight....just move on

It wasn't a robbery. 118-110 was absurd, but it was a very close fight.

114-114 is just too much of a stretch. GGG clearly won the fight. There were close rounds, but you can't give Canelo EVERYTHING. That's what happened clear biased and corrupt judging.

A draw implies a close fight, which it was.
