I seem to recall someone trying one against one of the gracies or another jiu jitsu guy in Japan, and being ankle picked/swept.Ken Shamrock included the Boston Crab as one of the techniques featured in his book "Beyond the Lion's Den", mentioning that it's one of the few pro wrestling holds that might actual work in a mma fight. I didn't think I'd even see someone attempt it, but I guess it was only a matter of time.
