Prize fighting is no joke man.
Sucks to hear stories like this pop up every once in a while. Truly tragic.

    Damn RIP, very sad.
Wonder what the political & societal response would be if this ever happened in the UFC?

Sooner or later, this will happen during a UFC fight and the resulting shitstorm will be monumental.

The importance of a good ref in this sport can be the difference between life and death. Hence why Kim should never be allowed to do it again.

    Damn that's sad to hear.

I wonder why the back of the skull shakes the brain more than the front. The face takes some massive power strikes and they're usually standing up and talking before Buffer gets in cage

If I recall, it's not that but more that the really important parts of the brain are in the back. But ask one of Sherdog's (many) doctors to confirm.

I hate hearing these things. It's bound to happen sometimes gives the brutal nature of the sport, but I never want it to. Only a matter of time before it happens in one of the bigger orgs.

As one Sherdog's many doctors, I can confirm back of the brain serves more essential functions for life.

there was a point when I knew the names and stories of the 3 or 4 people who had die fighting MMA.

Sadly, there are to many now to remember them all.

Almost guaranteed given the number of UFC events per year nowadays. At some point, it's bound to go terribly wrong. I'm sure they've already outlined a media strategy in case of something like that happening, but it's not going to be pretty.

Man that sucks. It looks like for a second or two he was just sitting there and gathering himself. I wonder what was going through his head. Didn’t expect to see him to fall out right after. Fucking terrible.

The news doesn't say anything about "several times" and the commission is not the official commission CABMMA, the news mentions CAMMA-AM (translating: Amazonas State MMA Athletic Comission), in other words, they are not related. It is a Brazilian commission (of course durr), but it is the independent Amazonian commission. No offense, but one thing is one thing, another thing is another thing, here the most people don't understand Portuguese and we need to be liable on the really mentioned facts.

That aside... RIP. Good luck for his family.
