MM is not a draw!!

They need to have Mighty Mouse fight a 225lb Mountain Dew drinking basement dweller so internet trolls get a better idea of how good these fighters really are.

But where's the platform for any fighter to sell themselves?? The entire success of a fighters popularity is there appeal to casuals, yet the UFC has proven itself to be a bad platform to reach that demographic, the only platform that fighters had was through sponsors and they lost that platform.

You dont think if MM had a sponsorship with Nike he'd be more popular?? Yet he's lost as well as the rest of the roster, that avenue to reach casuals.

The main platform has always been and will always be to open your mouth, unfortunately. There of course exceptions like Anderson Silva who overtime was able to win fans over by using his unique brand of fighting. MM has everything working against him. People are bias against the smaller weight classes. The UFC is doing a horrible job with promoting those classes and MM is refusing to be loud.

In regards to the sponsorship I whole hearty agree. Go look at my posting history. I've consistently said from day one that the Reebok deal was a scam. The UFC only did the deal so they can receive all revenue in the octagon and be able to prevent fighters from having extra leverage. MM for example had the Xbox deal and they stole it from him. Now Microsoft to paying the UFC directly and probably for a lot more money to place octagon size ads. Go figures.

cejudo confirmed winning.

He said himself he is not interested in promoting his fights .. He is happy showing up crushing bums.. and fucking back to twitch

But who really knows what their business strategy priorities are like at the moment? Maybe management sees MM as a lost cause, so why waste valuable resources on a guy who draws 100k PPV buys?
WME is cutting costs anywhere they can, even when it comes to promoting fights; how much advertising did you see for Miocic vs. Cormier? I didn't see any at all. They're content creators at this point; quantity over quality, bank on the UFC brand, and make most of the money outside of PPV. Unfortunately, they'll end up doing irreparable damage to the brand and won't be able to bank on it anymore in the future. If the trend continues, I expect the UFC to be dead by the time the ESPN deal expires.

The Fertitta strategy always seemed to be: if a UFC fighter can make him/herself a star, we'll promote them (which then begs the question of what's the point of having the UFC as their promoters). There were of course exceptions like Rousey, whom the UFC put the full power of the company behind and they benefited having a specialist compete against safe stylistic matchups.

And what example are you basing this off of?? Colby has opened his mouth but his fight vs RDA didnt do any special numbers.

Nobody has been able to copy the Macgregor act post Reebok deal, they haven't even been able to produce another GSP or Andy, another Penn, Jon Jones, they havent been able to even produce another Diaz.

I believe the idea that the missing ingredient is in large because MM doesnt adopt a WWE personna is baseless, considering all in house stars in the past have done well without the persona except Conor.

GSP and Andy barely spoke english, neither were terrific on the mic, GSP's biggest trash talk was telling Hughes he wasnt impressed with his performance while congratulating him on his win.

So again, im still looking for a single example of where the wwe personna has catapulted any in house fighter to stardom post reebok deal?? And if it hasnt(many have tried) then why do we continue to use it as a means to diminish the responsibility the promotion has in promoting fighters and excuse there incompetence by blaming the fighters???

Im buying saturdays, and more interested in MM vs Cejudo than i am in TJ vs Cody(both guys annoy me)

152, 174, 178, 186, 191, 197, 216

Buy any of those? Because those are the PPVs that are being talked about.

One thing that sets Conor apart from all other fighters promotionally is that he understands the value of EVERY SINGLE SECOND that potential consumers have their eyes on you.

1) He creates drama backstage knowing someone will snap a pic.

2) He has his face up against the camera as soon as they cut to him for his walkout.

3) He engages the fans and takes in the moment as he enters, which you can see.

4) He acknowledges the crowd before he steps into the cage.

5) He does the billionaire strut around the cage.

6) He does ridiculous spinning kicks and plays to the crowd the entire time he's waiting to be announced, which you can't even see on tv.

7) He steps to the center with his arms out as he's being announced.

8) He has a promo planned for when he wins.

And that's all just in the time between his walk to the cage and his walk back. Meanwhile the only time people will see Mighty Mouse(and everyone else) outside the cage, he's walking solemnly towards it with a women's track suit on.

He is like the Chad of self promoters

I feel if this was true he would have said so in his first reply to you. I would venture to guess, no, he is not purchased any of the cards, and he cannot understand why you are asking.

Man, this fight is gonna suck unless more people other than myself care about it. I'm not going to enjoy this show unless 500k other people do too.

News flash, no one in the ufc is a draw except conor, jones(kinda), and lesnar. Even the trash talkers who are "putting butts in seats" aren't moving the needle.

To be honest brah, they did an entire season of tuf around him to show how great of a Champ he is.
DJ just ain't marketable. Too small. Poor division in terms of star power and name recognition. Not to mention he giggles like a 5 year old.
to be fair tuf hasn't been a relevant promotional tool since tuf 6; with the exception of the kimbo season.

The UFC has one great draw and two decent ones. One is not fighting, one is suspended all the time and the other is at the end of his career and not willing to just accept any fight the UFC wants to give him to milk him.

The rest all pull poor numbers. DJ's numbers are not exceptionally low. 9 out of 10 cards pull the same.

DJ is not the problem. Of course he could do more. But there is no reason to believe it would change anything. UFC cards are just not selling well.

It's just some guys have it, some don't. DJ is a great fighter but he is definitely not a draw.

People never cared before and now he's ducking TJ people care even less. He should be asking to move up and take a second belt, be the mini-DC

Lol the guy doesn’t help promote and is the size of a 13 year old boy, he is more to blame than anybody else

Yeah he should just go magically change his height....

I also don't want fighters having to promote themselves. Shouldn't the PROMOTION do that so they can uh train to fight?

is this argument (seen many times in this thread) saying that the UFC controls his height? Like it or not his height is his, not Dana's, not the UFC's. MM's only. Is it in his control? of course not. Does it affect his draw? absolutely.

Yet people keep throwing it at him as if he could do something about it. Seems like a douche thing to do.
