He is God that people have believed in for thousands of years and operates darwinian like the universe is but humans deny. Even the abrahamic religion god is similar. Destroy the earth cause chaos reduce population then rebuild utopia same shit. But Thanos doesnt create hell like christianity and islam and doesnt single out certain groups he equally applies chaos to half the universe. Same thing though order from chaos stuff same in religions. Same dislike for human behavior etc need for "correction".
