Title. as we all know styles make fights which is why a fighter may have trouble with one fighter and not very much with another even though both opponents are equally great Ali/Frazier/Foreman as an example.

ill start with one that already happened
Sonny Liston vs Floyd Patterson- two all time greats just sonny had a style that floyd had trouble with

Fantasy atg mismatch fight ( and this may b unpopular)
Sugar Ray Leonard vs Felix Trinidad- IMO Leonard boxes titos ears off easy and knocks him out late in a complete mismatch. Tito is to one dimensional to be competitive imo

    Hmm

Feels like a continuation of the Trinidad/Duran thread disguised as a new topic.

The way you described Trinidad feels like you're trying to support the posts you made in the other thread.

I'd pick Leonard over Trinidad as well. It just seems like an odd choice of matchup unless you consider that you were recently discussing Trinidad vs Duran.

Only impressive thing Duran, Leonard, Hagler, and Hearns ever did was beat each other.

Well, thats true of any great era really. It just has a negative tone. Fighters should be judged on who they fought, not who they didn't fight.

i suppose i could have used a diff matchup. Hows about this one instead: Hagler vs Roy Jones. two atg but i would think roy wins pretty easy by outboxing him.

Good examples. I'd also add pretty much any older fighter against any younger fighter.

    Louis vs Marciano.

Pac/Hatton is good. Not sure I'd say Floyd/Gatti. Floyd/Hernandez might be better. Hernandez is more of an ATG at 130 than Gatti is anywhere IMO.

Gatti is no ATG. Hatton is borderline, though, at 140 he has a decent resume.

Ezzard Charles and Archie Moore are as great as it gets at LHW and Charles beat him convincingly twice before KOing him in their third bout (though, the third bout was a back and forth affair).

I'm partial to Thunder. Guy always fought with 100% heart and guts win or lose.

He's more atg than chad Dawson

    ;)

    This thread is weird

How do you come up with two ATG's where one gets dominated

Isnt it better picking ATG that can potentially lose to a top five?

    Example: Mayweather vs Forrest

I know the Dawson thing is a joke, but Dawson's resume is most likely better than Gatti's, as well. Speaking of Dawson, does anyone have any news on if he is getting back in the ring anytime soon?
