Mir relies way too much on getting rocked and creating scrambles when his opponents are careless (see: Brock, Minotauro), whereas Fabricio can create submissions through advancing positions from a takedown OR from a scramble when his opponent is careless (Fedor).

Ergo, I think Fabricio has the more well-rounded ground game, which is obvious in terms of BJJ competition, but also MMA.

He's not better at being held against the cage and dominated :icon_chee

He did it against Zombie Nog, who else?

I have recollections of Werdum buttscooting and not being able to do anything other than looking stupid while begging his opponent to join him on the ground ever since since he did it against Sergei 8 years ago.

The guy is hardly a well rounded grappler.

Werdum fan boys are making me want this fight more than the Barnett fight.

I think Mir would make him tap in the talking smack category......

Werdum submitted Nog as if he was an amateur. Werdum's BJJ is top 3 in all of mma.

werdums striking is overrated big time

I don't know of anyone who would disagree with this, Mir included.

Each has an admirable number of submission wins on their record, but each fighter's record can be picked apart (and some wins discredited) because an opponent was too old/past his prime/had no ground game, etc. Before either guy retires, I would like to see them face each other (and have each face Barnett) - it may not necessarily settle the dispute of who the better grappler is, but it would be a compelling match-up.

WTF can't believe people are choosing werdum over Mir. Mir has the best BJJ in the HW division. His submissions and ability on the mat is nothing but extroadinary

Werdum is so overrated on here and in real life. I think Frank beats him 3 times out of 4.

I agree. And Mir's is underrated.

Werdum is probably the more technical striker, but Mir has some real power.
If it went to the ground, I think Mir could hang, but only if he is on top.

grappling- werdum
applying subs- mir.

overall werdum

LMAO

I highly doubt Mir's gameplan is to get rocked and then submit the guy. You really think he relies on that? I highly doubt it dude, it's just how it works for him because he doesn't have the best chin for HW.
