Who can't for the life of me figure out how this completely average game has garnered a cult following that has grown to such an insane degree, that it's upcoming sequel is on nearly everyone's "Most Anticipated Games" list?

I don't get it. It was a game with one trick, and it didn't even execute that one trick all that well. The story was lame and forgettable. The graphics were "meh". The first person platforming/parkour gameplay sorta, kinda worked, and the combat absolutely sucked.

The game just wasn't that good. Yet here we are, getting hyped for a game that had a barely functional base to build from. I won't be too surprised when the sequel comes out and disappoints everyone who seems to be looking at the original with rose colored glasses.

It's so not average though. It's a first person game where the objective is generally not to shoot things. That in itself sadly made it unique at the time. Also it has a very strong look, and it plays great. Not my favorite game ever or anything, but it's pretty far from average.

I barely recognize the cover of this game. I didn't recognize the title. I had to Google.

It's EA: marketing leviathan. Question answered.

It's unique, but that doesn't make it above average.

As for it playing great, I gotta disagree there. It functions, but It's basically a trial and error game, that requires you to find a specific path for success, and whenever it veers away from that formula even a little bit, it completely falls apart.

I think people are more interested in the concept and the potential. The idea of a well-implemented parkour/platform game that doesn't revolve around shooting people is refreshing. I don't think it's because people consider the original a great game.

I enjoyed it, I would call it a B-, fun concept, repetitive levels, super fun time trial mode.

All I remember about it is seeing many, many copies still on the shelf at a discounted price shortly after release. I was under the impression that the game bombed.

It was fun, but I wouldn't call myself a hardcore fan. I had no idea a sequel was coming.

You are not the only one. The original Mirror's Edge was average at best, and it made a blip on a radar, but that's about it. No idea why the sequel got greenlit, but i suspect it is a pet project of DICE's management and they have done so many Battlefields now so maybe that's why EA is allowing it.

This is one of my favourite games for the XBox 360. What it had was bright, clean, crisp levels, the controls very solid and easy to manage. It really didn't take much to storm through the levels, I beat the game in a couple of hours.

While the story was a little disappointing, I feel a lot got lost as you were busy running away from stuff and couldn't focus on the story. I have seen people do runs where they struggle with the controls and thinking ahead and the game does suck at that point but if you can speed through the game and always been in tunnel vision then the game is amazing.

It's not average, there are no games like it. I wouldn't go as far to say that it's a great game but it's unique, that's why people like it

Wasn't really a fan of Mirrors Edge but I did like the fresh concept of the game, maybe with the tech they have and the hardware we now have they can make this game how it should've been made.
But with that being said I wouldn't expect the new one to be 10/10 either.

Nah, my eyes are fine. It had some style, but it was a very sterile looking game. It didn't look like shit or anything, just meh.

Tried it once around when it came out. Wasn't for me, really boring and linear.
