Mir Shoulder Lock

Reverse key lock. It's one of the old school GJJ standing defense techniques, in the guard it's even stronger.

Frickin hate this move although it's effective if timed right. I had a guy crank this on me and both my shoulder and elbow popped loudly. I was able to get back on the mats in like two weeks, but that arm has never been the same.

Cranking keylocks is definitely not cool, very easy to pop that elbow ligament.

I play a high closed guard and this is a big part of the game. You alternate it with sweep attempts. Make them choose between the sweep and the shoulder lock.

Learned it from a Lotus Club BB and then also from the guy who taught him, Giva "the arm collector" Santana as the beginning of a submission chain, basically sub them with that or make them defend it by rotating there arm right into the armbar.

There's a black belt at my club who goes for this occasionally from knee shield half guard and although he doesn't get it very often it still hurts to defend and is annoying as hell!
