I'm a fan, and I hate seeing him in these fights that he has virtually no shot of winning. I can't remember being this certain about the outcome of a fight, ever.

I mean, I guess he could clip Overeem or Overeem could trip into a guillotine or something. There could somehow be a scramble that ends up on the mat, in which case Mir has a very good chance. But other than that, Jesus...I know Reem has a habit of blowing fights he seems like he should win too, but come on.

Don't get me wrong, this is going to leave some people thinking I don't really like Mir or something, that's not true. He's probably my favorite HW, along with Pat Barry. But man, I can NOT get excited about the possibilities of this fight.
 
He could beat Overeem which hurts my soul. Win or lose this next fight I agree. Mir is taking way too much punishment.
 
It will be interesting. I think it depends on Reem. Did he get enough horsemeat in Thailand? It looks like it. But then again, will he gas?

As for Mir....I think he needs to hang em up. I'm not sure why he's still here. He needs to be a commentator.
 
One more loss and he's done. There's a few of em hanging around these days.
 
Murr should just turtle up and hope that Overeem gasses
 
I'm a Mir fan, too, and I really don't want to see the guy get KOed again. Still, never count out Murr. And never have too much confidence in Overeem's chin.
 
I suppose you could see something like Mir/Kongo. That's pretty much the only thing I can see going Mir's way.

The problem with Mir these days is that he NEEDS the fight to go to the mat, but he's not a wrestler! It's a bad catch 22. That's why Mir/Dos Santos was so anticlimactic.
 
He looked like crap in his last fight. Like he had zero gas tank. I don't think it's age or that he's done, more like maybe he's not training properly, for whatever reason. Frank's still dangerous, and I'm picking him over Overeem.
 
Find this "Blackjack" guy and pound him.
 
I'm glad Mir is taking this fight and I think he has a solid chance of winning. With that said, I hope Overeem wins bc I don't think we've gotten a chance to see him at his best. Either way, loser goes home and that sucks bc I'm a fan of both.
 
He's not in that bad a way, and as long as he can beat people in the top 10...

JDS was ranked number 1 at the time and DC might be the number 1 HW right now but he won't fight Cain so we don't have a way of knowing.

I do think the Barnett stoppage sucked.

Someone said they rewatched the fight and changed their mind, so if someone has a gif, it would help.

But yeah, if he loses against Reem he would be very far away from a title run, which is the reason to be in the sport unless he wants to do fun match ups.
 
Not going to be good for Mir, always been a fan of his, but his time is up

gas? The fight went like 2mins and was in clinch whole time
 
Mir overcame an accident that not only would haven ended most careers, but ended most lives.

Nobody tells Mir and Big Nog when to quit. These guys beat death, came back with = wounded bodies and limbs and proceeded to become World HW Champions.

They've earned their keep.

Mir dropped Kongo when Kongo was still beasting in the UFC - and nearly finished Cain a fight prior.
Mir executed him.

Never count Mir out.

Yeah Mir didn't gas in that fight, he just got mugged against the cage and beaten up. Overeem should be able to beat Mir for stylistic reasons but I just feel like the MMA gods are going to troll us in this one. Overeem's chin is what it is and Mir has put knuckles to chin before, if Overeem doesn't pressure Mir I think an upset is a distinct possibility.
