Miocic proves the power of HW's

And Manhoef vs Hunt proves the power of MWs
Because this is how stats work

Two of the hardest punchers of all time, prime Mike Tyson and George Foreman, could have made 205 easily (fought at like 220). A more recent example, Haye was even smaller walking around at roughly 210 and he had no trouble dropping world class HWs.

Glover who is considered to be this big powerful light heavyweight struggled to put Maldonado away and fought back and forth with him.

Stipe cut through him like a knife through hot butter.

Huge difference between the power of heavyweights vs light heavyweights.

Forrest Griffin said it best:light heavyweights are the guys who lack the power and the chin to fight at HW so they cut weight.

Heavyweights should have more power but it isn't always going to lead to more KO's. Technique plays and equal or greater component. Hunt's chin has held up well versus virtually every HW - He was knocked out cold versus Manhoef. A 170lb'er.

Pretty much. Once you get to a certain weight, there is really no power difference. It's just a myth people keep buying into.

Foreman at 220lbs could knock out anyone.
Shavers at 210lbs could knock out anyone.
Frazier at 210lbs could knock out anyone.
Tyson at 220lbs could knock out anyone.
Liston at 210lbs could knock out anyone.

And the list goes on and on.

He actually did rock him a couple times.

Yup the fight I watch Glover was wobbled and almost got himself KO;d by Maldonado.

Sounds like the couch potato crowd needs to pay attention the fight vs whats coming out of Goldberg's incessant desire to yell out 2-3-2 so the audience is aware he knows one boxing combination while Rogan jock rides the fighter he wants to win.

Glover beat the dog shit out of Maldonado but he took some hard shots in the process and took 10 minutes to do what Stipe did in 30 seconds with 2 punches.

manhoef is the exception to the rule

fucking wrecking ball of a human

Manhoef is a genetic freak and a beast.

He also got his ass KO'd by Robbie Lawler who grew up from 170.

So yeah if you have freak power you can KO anyone if you land clean.

Manhoef, Hendricks, Lawler all hit hard enough to KO any man alive but if there wasnt weightclasses and they fought for their career at HW, all would have losing records, multiple KO losses and brain damage.

Your naming the hard hitting boxers of all time except you left out Marciano who was 186.

My point is look at the LHW division as a whole vs look at the HW division as a whole.

Stipe has good power as a HW but he is no Shane Carwin and would also behind Hunt and JDS in terms of punching power.

The difference between his punching power and the punching power of Glover who is top 3 (AJ, maybe DC who did fight at HW and cut for a reason)in terms of one punch power at 205 is incredible.

Wow what a performance to KO a small guy when you're a HW. It's like claiming Cain ko'ing Munoz "proves the power of the HW" basically.

I did not say it was a performance at any point. It was a shameful fight the UFC put on just to give the fans a blood bath that did not happen because Maldonado got crushed fast.

It was pointless to have a top 5 HW fight a top 25 LHW.

Different punches on different nights = different results.

It (unlikely) could be a testament to their power or just a different set of conditions.

Mass times acceleration = force. Basic physics.

But I think the bigger lesson is the foolishness of Maldonados fighting style. I knew the human punching bag thing would be a terrible idea against Miocic. Stipe has too much power, athleticism and technique.

Maldonado should fight at MW and he needs to improve his striking defense. Otherwise it won't be long before he can barely talk intelligibly.

It's a weird brand of mma math though. You're using one LHW fight and one HW fight with a common opponent to make a generalization about things.

Top 10 HW versus a top 25 LHW will end like that. Let's be real though there's WW's who would smash Maldo.
