Mini-Discs

That's the downside to these things not much storage space on a blank one

As for as iPhones or smart phones go I don't want one.
That’s the point buy a cheap old iPhone 3 or 4 off eBay and use it as a music player only. Way ducking more storage, better music player format. It crushes the other things you are thinking about as an MP3 player.

My old 4 lives in the console of my truck hooked to my radio and I wear it fishing , cutting the grass etc.

I haven’t used my iPod in ages, the 4 is way better for music than my ancient iPod was.

its hilarious how quickly technology becomes obsolete

The DAC is way better than any phone's DAC and better than computer DAC's unless you have a separate DAC. Also, playing lossless files is great. It also is a external DAC for your computer as well.

Buy a used old iPhone or iPod

Those didn’t do very well and even when they were out there wasn’t much out there for them and the disks didn’t have much storage space compared to say buying a 50.00 or less iPhone 4 16g and just using it as an iPod.
I read the old iPods had a harddrive and you don't want moving parts in an iPod you're going to jog with just like you don't want to shake your computer harddrive while it's being accessed.

I wanted to buy a Sony digital camera that saved to 1.44" floppy discs. Good thing I didn't.

i had an MD player as well but like previous poster said, the storage space on the discs sucked and i ended up carrying a bunch of discs around.

I also had one of these and a cybiko

Yes. They were awesome back in the day. Didn't have to worry about them scratching like CDs, they were smaller, and you could record. Not sure why they weren't more popular. Not sure why you'd want one nowadays though.

I had this one

Iirc correctly the player was around seven hundred dollars ~1995 and there were scant if any albums released in the format.

I still have my sony mini disc player-recorder.
Problem is that nowadays I can't just bother to record anything to put into a minidisc when it's so easily accessible via mp3 or streaming.

I'll still keep it so I can pump up the music once the apocalypse of civilization hits.

Did any one ever have or still has one of these?

I'd like to have one myself though I'm not sure if you can get newer albums for it.

More SONY proprietary crap. Psycho-acoustic compression my ass. 190MB of pure bunk.

I own the video equivalent of this thing (The IP 22) the first consumer HD handheld. It uses a microDV tape. I probably own the last 10 in existence.

ive still got some albums on minidisc and some blank ones.

Yup - it's wired into an Alpine audio system.

Props on the Linda ronstat track

In my old 78 trans am show car I’d throw the 8 track in it before going to car shows.

Had one in the car, a HiFi separate and a couple Walkmans. What a fucking waste of money that lot was...
