Economy MILLENNIALS AIN'T GOT NO MONEY

Lol this sounds great in theory but "getting your hands a little dirty" is quite the understatement if you're trying to double the value of a home.
My house doubled in value over the last 5 years just doing floors / paint / appliances some tile and trim.

I'm not saying it's common but increasing the value say of a 300k house to 400k isn't at all uncommon.
People complain and cry about how there's no housing, yet mildly outdated houses sell for huge discounts compared to those that are renovated. houses with Honey Oak cabinets and flooring and maybe some ugly wall paper routinely sell for huge discounts just because people don't know or they have a silly attitude about only wanting a completely renovated house.

If my above statement wasn't 100% correct, flippers wouldn't exist.

A renovation like this is basically paint and time. This is getting "A little dirty". But it's funny I lay out the most basic and achievable way to becoming a millionaire and all you can do is make a comment about "A little dirty". That's your real problem right there.
The difference between you and me is that when someone showed me this way to change my life I left everything behind and got a hell of a lot more then a "little dirty". Having gone through the 08 crisis without a job, I considered cleaning crime scenes because I heard it paid 200k/yr, so yeah by comparison, this aint even dirty work.

Millennials have had really shitty luck. 9-11, a pandemic accompanied by 2 terrible recessions. I’m for redistribution and a very strong safety net.

That said it feels like there’s something between communism and full blown free market capitalism. The fight should be how far do we go with these programs. The fight is democracy vs whatever corrupt bullshit Republicans are doing (coup, cheating, restricting voting laws).

If you fuckers care about this stuff you better get out there and vote next year.

you need serious perspective:

No you gave a made up example with fictitious numbers. And if you aren't handy, forget about it.

There are many reasons why it´s harder today than just 20 years ago. Certainly much harder than 50 years ago

Some pretty eye opening points on us wages here.. Adresses many points on both sides from this thread.

- Min wage would be 24$+ if it had followed inflation and rise in productivity since 1968
- Most useless min wage since 1966
- McD in Denmark starting salary 22$ (6 weeks paid vacation, pension plan, 1 year maternity leave). Big Mac only 27c more expensive

Also many good points added here on expenses etc (health care, work)

Looking at actual taxes and income. US vs Denmark

But lets just call everyone lazy..

sherdog responses: “good, fuck those lazy blue-haired millenial commies”

can you feel the love?

Its such a weird argument anyway, isn't it? My parents had shitty jobs in the early 80's, but still had money for their weed, 2 cars, 2 kids, a house, and the "luxury" amenities of their day; like a vcr, phone, atari/coleco vision, etc.

Shouldn't have to live in poverty for a decade to save a 20% down payment, and imagine how devastating it would be to the economy if an entire generation took this "advice" and lived like paupers just to afford houses a decade from now... its total unrealistic nonsense from people who got help, got lucky, or can't see beyond their own experiences and think what they have is equally obtainable for everyone else.

I have a better job than my parents ever did and can't afford a house where I live. Its hard to save any significant amount when rent, utilities and insurance are $3k a month. Wages haven't changed much in the past 15 years, but 15 years ago a nice 2br/2ba apartment was $750, now its nearly double that.
That's why for the most part I don't post in threads like these anymore. The bootstraps morons never listen, no more how much empirical data goes against their beliefs. Everything is surface deep and/or simply requires more personal effort. Facts over feelings aside from the facts they don't like. Nothing gets through.

Yes you certainly do. And you should probably spend less. New phone, new clothes, coffees every day, eating at restaurants 2+ times a week yada yada yada.
True.

Also true that the cost of nigh everything has went up and wages haven't kept pace.

Also doesn't help that what keeps the economy going is people spending money, even to the point of irresponsibility. The entire system is constantly trying to snatch people's resources whilst they're told to be responsible. That's like telling someone to eat healthy and offering them a buffet of cupcakes with crack sprinkled on them. Almost like... it's all bullshit sprinkled with finger pointing and the use of survivorship bias.

In any event, blaming of the younger generations is an old game. It wasn't the young who setup the world, it's the young who inherit it, which makes that argument utterly moronic and deflectionary, an abdication of responsibility which is funnily enough what the newer generations are always accused of and also conveniently ignores positive innovation and progress.

But I am good looking with a large penis. Men like me have superior souls. When we die we become angels while you will rot, god loves the beautiful.

Also communism is coming we gonna take your wealth grandpa and your guns as well!!

Lmao...must be a sad existence when your only hope is communism

That's not true. Every trade, on every site I've been on the past 4 years is in desperate need of employees. You might not get top dollar off the start, but you work your way up by learning the trade. That's why the older people make more, because we actually know wtf we're doing.
Okay, well then lets assume that everyone quits their crappy jobs and starts working at these trade jobs. Who is going to work at the 711, McDonald's, and Walmart if everyone is working at these trade jobs? The fact is we need people to work at these places, no one likes working at them but someone has to. So shouldn't we I don't know, ACTUALLY PAY THESE PEOPLE A DECENT AMOUNT OF MONEY SO THEY HAVE AN INCENTIVE TO KEEP WORKING AT THEM?

Well if you can be replaced by a brain damaged monkey you'll always be on the bottom

Danes are descended from Vikings. If their leaders tried to pull the zhit Murkan leaders did they would blood eagle them then hang their corpses from trees.

This is disgusting. Yet I'm called an "insane radical" because I want to abolish the system that allows this kind of wealth inequality and unfairness. Or I'm just lazy and bitter, because when capitalists can't defend their precious economic system they have to resort to personal attacks.

you acting like a bitch though.

the previous generations before you had to endure the same financial hardships.

what makes your generation so fuckin special? learn how to hustle if you want to move out of your mommies house so bad.

that includes buying budget phones every 4 years, cheap used cars, inexpensive groceries and beer.

your mindset is the problem.. the entitlement complex you have makes you think you are owed something, when you are not.

I have refaced my cabinets, put in a new kitchen floor, new countertops, kitchen back splash, new siding in garage and house with accents, put glass block windows in the basement new, new furnace, replaced every light fixtures and ceiling fan, remodeled the bath area, tore out the carpeting, replaced the garage door and, and completely fenced the property with privacy fencing and I don't see how I could have doubled the property value. Maybe I'm just not versed in these things.

Maybe because the solution you are pushing is stupid and unoriginal. Try advocating for a solution that doesn’t make everyone poor and enslaved by a powerful central govt
How about we raise wages for workers? Maybe this is a crazy idea, but if you work full time you should be able to make enough money to survive.

Show me anywhere in the world where Marxism didn't fail as a system, didn't make everyone poor and where Marxism actually worked.
Socialism has failed in most cases because it was implemented in countries that were already impoverished beforehand and/or the US and its allies interfered with and sanctioned those countries.
If socialism was implemented in an industrialized nation like here or the UK it would probably be more successful.

It’s not so simple as pulling a lever. Housing has a vast list of reasons why it’s not affordable, and wages are just one of those factors. You’re basically trying to earn your house by turning but on the shower. It’s a really inefficient way to meet your goal.
