Is there really any difference between Military and SOHP? I've heard some people say that Military must be done with the heels together or it's SOHP. Others think this is just semantics, AKA bullshit. And that any time you lift a Barbell above your head with arms fully extended and no leg drive, it's the same lift no matter what you choose to call it.

OK, so this is not the most intense Thread I've ever posted. But I've wondered about this for a while. And it's either this or watch Nic Cage fuck up the Ghost Rider movie...

Military press you keep your heels together. I think works your core more than if your feet are apart.

Watch a better movie instead. You obviously have the internet, so there's no excuse for not being able to find something good to watch.

I think "military" also implies that it is stricter form with minimal layback. Whereas the Press or SOHP allows for more layback.

RE: Movies on television: If you live in the States, there is a Rocky marathon on vh1...

I don't do either, I prefer the seated military better. When I'm standing I want to lean too far backwards.

Unless by that you mean there's a nude or at least topless scene...I'd rather rewatch forbidden planet, then watch porn. Or maybe the other way around.

    There is a difference:

Military press=Standing press with heels together and minimal layback, just enough to avoid blasting yourself in the chin.

Press=Standing press with the feet spaced however you want, more layback permitted.

No leg drive of any sort on either.
